The Guidance Center (TGC) is the Community Mental Health Center and Certified Behavioral Health Clinic serving Leavenworth, Atchison, and Jefferson counties in Kansas. We provide high-quality care to all individuals, regardless of their financial circumstances. The Guidance Center (TGC) is currently seeking an Adult Psychosocial Group Leader to be the newest member of our innovative interdisciplinary team. This position provides services to SPMI and SMI adults who are participating in the Center’s Adult Psychosocial Program. Evenings Required (1+ days per week after 5 pm).

  • Competitive hourly rate of $26.89 to $29.37, depending upon qualifications.  

Primary Duties: 

  1. Provide ongoing support and follow-through for client goal attainment in the areas of these life domains: home, financial/insurance, vocational/educational, health, relationships, leisure/recreation, and daily living skills, through goal-directed APP activities  
  2. Facilitate groups as assigned and assist with development of group program curriculum  
  3. Provide assertive outreach directed toward engaging and maintaining client relationships.  Meet clients individually when necessary or assigned.  
  4. Assist clients and/or caregivers to locate and use resources to meet defined goals and needs when appropriate  
  5. Update WRAP plans, including crisis plans as needed and at least yearly  
  6. Advocate for and with clients as they seek to achieve their goals and overcome barriers  
  7. Provide response and support to clients and caregivers when emergencies occur  
  8. Promote and support clients’ efforts to manage symptoms  
  9. Assist with insurance verification, medication appointments, and other routine activities for and with consumers  
  10. Perform case management activities when necessary or assigned 


Requirements

 

QUALIFICATIONS: 


EDUCATION AND LICENSURE: 

A bachelor’s degree is required.  Degree in Social Work, Psychology, or human service field preferred.  Equivalent work experience in the human services field, or a combination of work experience in the human services field and education, with one year of experience substituting for one year of education, may be considered. 


EXPERIENCE: 

Required:  Six months of paid or volunteer experience working with individuals in the community   

Preferred:  experience working with individuals with mental health issues
