We are seeking a compassionate Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join our team. This clinical professional will provide support in patient care, assisting with exams, treatments, and patient education.

Responsibilities

  • Perform phlebotomy and collect, label, and process blood specimens.

  • Assist with primary care services and patient care management.

  • Obtain vital signs and basic patient information after completing required competencies.

  • Ensure specimen quality, accuracy, and safety.

  • Perform laboratory testing, quality control, and instrument maintenance.

  • Document results, maintenance, and patient care in the EHR.

  • Communicate laboratory results and patient concerns to appropriate staff.

  • Follow CLIA, CAP/COLA, safety, and infection prevention standards.

  • Provide compassionate care to patients and assist with difficult blood draws.

  • Recognize abnormal results and communicate concerns within scope and licensure.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited program for Medical Assistants (Certificate, diploma, or Associate’s Degree) required. 
  • Certified or Registered Medical Assistant through one of the following required: 
      • National Healthcare Association 
      • American Association of Medical Assistants 
      • National Center for Competency Testing 
      • National Certified Medical Assistant  
      • National Association of Health Professionals 
      • American Registry of Medical Assistants 
      • American Allied Health 
      • American Medical Technologists
  • Prior experience in a clinical or outpatient setting preferred
  • Familiarity with EPIC a plus!
  • For positions within UnityPoint Clinic, team members may be required to work at or to float to other locations to support optimized staffing
