About the Role

In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

  • Serve as a liaison between Payroll Operations and business unit customers, partnering with Human Resources, employees, internal departments, and external vendors to understand requirements and support business needs.
  • Track and support the resolution of payroll issues and operational risks that are critical to payroll production and service delivery.
  • Process payroll adjustments, including balance corrections, earnings updates, hours adjustments, and other payroll-related corrections.
  • Provide primary support to users and resolve inquiries related to payroll processes and employee self-service tools.
  • Support employee transfers across Emerson businesses and legal entities.
  • Identify, document, and escalate unresolved system or process errors that impact productivity or employee experience.
  • Perform regression testing for recurring payroll system patches and updates using assigned test scripts.
  • Ensure accurate and timely payroll processing and payments across multiple pay frequencies, locations, and legal entities.
  • Complete core payroll activities, including balance adjustments, mass salary updates, emergency payments, and recurring payroll processes.
  • Participate in ongoing training and development to maintain payroll and system expertise.
  • Utilize payroll and supporting software tools to ensure accurate data management and processing.
  • Support benefits-related payroll activities, including healthcare contributions, gratuity, superannuation, National Pension System (NPS) contributions, pension-related information, and other employee benefit deductions.
  • Maintain payroll data integrity, confidentiality, and compliance with data privacy requirements.
  • Update employee records and coordinate with external parties regarding expat and international commuter payroll activities.
  • Provide timely responses and documentation through HR support channels, including Contact HR systems, email requests, and phone inquiries.
  • Research applicable laws, regulations, and payroll requirements as needed.
  • Follow up with customers and team members to ensure timely and accurate resolution of requests.
  • Import and reconcile time entry files as part of payroll processing activities.
  • Provide backup support for departmental administrative tasks, including mail processing, garnishment uploads, tax notice ticket creation, and related activities.
  • Support additional responsibilities and projects as assigned by leadership.
  • Manage payroll tax and statutory compliance activities, including Provident Fund (PF), Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC), Professional Tax, Labour Welfare Fund (LWF), Income Tax, Tax Deducted at Source (TDS), pension contributions, retirement benefits, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare payroll reports, payroll accruals, provisions, and payroll-related information required by Finance.
  • Support payroll-related projects, including payroll mergers, bulk legal entity transfers, and annual compensation planning and execution activities.
  • Coordinate internal and external payroll audits, inspections, and compliance reviews, ensuring accurate documentation and timely submission of required information.
  • Manage Restricted Stock Unit (RSU) and performance share taxation processes and address employee tax-related inquiries.
  • Provide payroll support and guidance to employees at all organizational levels, ensuring timely and accurate issue resolution.
  • Assist former employees with taxation-related matters and support international employee transfer cases.
  • Provide payroll and tax information to external vendors supporting tax equalization programs.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives through process documentation, control enhancement, operational efficiency improvements, knowledge sharing, and customer experience optimization.

For This Role, You Will Need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Payroll, Business, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience.
  • Experience supporting payroll operations in a complex, multi-business, multi-location, or shared services environment.
  • Knowledge of payroll processing, payroll taxation, statutory compliance, and payroll-related employee support activities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and other business productivity tools.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively across all organizational levels.
  • Knowledge of payroll tax regulations and payroll configuration concepts to support accurate employee taxation.
  • Strong prioritization skills with the ability to recognize urgency and manage competing priorities.
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a changing business environment.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced operational setting.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with a focus on identifying root causes and preventing recurring issues.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to maintaining confidentiality of sensitive employee and payroll information.
  • Ability to understand end-to-end processes and make sound decisions when detailed guidance may not always be available.
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities while maintaining accuracy and quality.

 

Preferred Qualifications That Set You Apart:

  • Approximately 5 to 7 years of payroll, HR operations, shared services, or related experience.
  • Experience working with Oracle applications or enterprise payroll and HR systems.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, reporting, analytics, and data management.
  • Experience supporting payroll compliance, audits, employee mobility, tax equalization, or stock-based compensation taxation processes.
  • Familiarity with global payroll operations and continuous improvement methodologies.
