About the Role

STRATEGY AND PLANNING

  • Lead the implementation of Group’s financial crime policies and procedures and providing strategic direction and operational oversight.
  • Oversee, plan and conduct risk assessments to identify emerging financial crime risk, analyse the results and develop risk mitigation strategies, monitoring the implementation plans, in close collaboration with the other relevant stakeholders, as well as generating periodic reports.
  • Assume active involvement in management of critical issues, provide necessary solutions and recommedations relating to risk appetites of the Group, which include but are not limited to applicable restrictions involving countries, organizations, individuals, companies or activities associated with high financial crime risk.
  • Report on progress and issues in relation to the operational effectiveness relating to financial crime policies, procedures and compliance program to the relevant governance committees.
  • Provide oversight on Regional operations in accordance with the Regional Target Operating Model, by closely liaising with regional compliance officers and their teams.
  • Provide, and/or coordinate the provision of information and monitoring of any corrective and remedial actions in internal and external assurance, audit or other validation exercises in respect of financial crime compliance.
  • Working with Learning & Development (Group Human Resources) to develop/review learning materials and  ensure that colleagues performing functions relevant to financial crime compliance receive appropriate training as required.
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture within the team.

FINANCIAL CRIME COMPLIANCE POLICY DEVELOPMENT AND MANAGEMENT

  • Lead the development and management of all group-level financial crime compliance-related policies and procedures (Group FCC P&P).
  • Ensure that the Group FCC P&P fully comply with, and reflect the compliance requirements of, all relevant Malaysian laws and regulations in relation to financial crime compliance, including, in particular BNM Policy Documents, FAQs, guidance notes and ‘Dear CEO’ letters as issued/amended from time to time.
  • Review and approve/reject any dispensation or variation requests in respect of Group FCC P&P.
  • Ensure that gap analyses are performed timely by the relevant stakeholders in respect of any changes to such laws and regulations.
  • Regional operations – oversee the implementation of Group FCC P&P by regional compliance teams, including reviewing and approving/rejecting any dispensation or variation requests.

 

ADVISORY

  • Work jointly with Compliance colleagues and RCU and DCOROs on new products and processes, business initiatives and projects, and ensure that stakeholders implement appropriate systems, processes and controls to meet financial crime compliance obligations.
  • Collaborate with other GFCC colleagues to ensure that the principles and requirements in Group FCC P&P are well operationalised within the systems, processes and controls of GFCC.

 

PEOPLE MANAGEMENT

  • Manage the performance of the team members and enhance their competency in performing their responsibilities.
  • Retain performing staff, manage staff resources and succession planning and provide continuous coaching and monitoring of department staff.

 

Any other duties assigned by the Management from time to time.
