About the Role

 

  • Responsible to provide effective day-to-day Corporate Banking, Commercial Banking & Transaction Banking legal support to relevant stakeholders in a timely manner.
  • Support top management to devise efficient legal strategies for the department.
  • Research and evaluate different risk factors regarding business decisions and operations for all relevant stakeholders.
  • Provide advice, assistance and recommendation to the Corporate Banking, Commercial Banking & Transaction Banking divisions on particular legal issues, the interpretation and enforceability of pertinent relevant laws and the appropriate handling of actions involving client protection and compliance laws applicable to insured depository institutions. 
  • Perform borrowing related procedures including negotiation and execution of document preparation and disbursement, such as vetting of any agreements related to the financing to highlight the potential risk, providing advise on compliance, and reviewing external solicitors’ legal opinions for the purpose of disbursement.
  • Process requests for new solicitors empanelment, complaints on panel lawyers, and assist to revise the SOPs on appointment of lawyers.
  • Process requests for appointment or revocation of power attorney and payment for solicitors work.
  • Prepare GPOC papers relating to the relevant divisions, and documentation and structure in possible collaboration/partnership with stakeholders.
  • Perform regulatory examinations, including strategy, documentation review, and narrative drafting.
  • Draft and solidify agreements, contracts and other legal documents to ensure the company’s full legal rights.
  • Assist to provide effective risk management techniques and offer proactive advise on possible legal issues.
  • Maintain strong network and ensure responsible communication with stakeholders to facilitate provision of legal support to the Relevant Divisions.
  • Support process improvement initiatives for the department to enhance performance and delivery of legal support to all stakeholders.
  • Support the team in  working collaboratively with various legal departments of the Division and facilitate collaboration across countries for sharing of best practices. 
  • Perform acitivities to encourage and build desired organisational culture, values and reputation in the Group markets and with all staff, clients and regulatory/official bodies.
  • Ensure compliance with the relevant legal and regulatory requirements, CIMB policies & procedures and the Division’s policies and procedures. 
  • Any other responsibilities / tasks as assigned by the Management from time to time.
