Title:                                   Bid Writing Specialist 

Supervisor:                     Business Process Manager

FLSA Status:                    Non-Exempt/Hourly

 

Summary/Objective

In this role, you will identify opportunities for bid submission, develop bid-winning strategies, conduct research, write and edit proposal, negotiate with stakeholders and collaborate with other teams to ensure bid security.

 

Essential Functions

 

  • Work alongside management and the bid team to develop bid strategies, competitive advantages and win themes.
  • Work closely with project managers, design managers, estimators, and senior personnel.
  • Identify opportunities for bid submissions and raising them with the management team.
  • Conduct research and brainstorming key points to include in the bid.
  • Craft persuasive and detailed proposals.
  • Conduct team briefings once bids have been secured.
  • Ability to write succinct and compelling content.   Ensure consistency of style, content, and message throughout. 
  • Proofread, edit, challenge and sense check the bid narrative.
  • Identify key win themes, issues, and expectations.
  • Coordinate the responses of other business departments where appropriate.
  • Review and edit bid material, researching material for inclusion where needed.
  • Develop additional/supporting materials, such as diagrams or process maps, for inclusion in responses.
  • Ensure responses are compliant with the contract requirements and incorporate the latest developments, legislation, and best practice. Analyze and respond to pre-qualifications, requests for information (RFIs), registrations of interest (ROIs).
  • Update and maintain library of proposal documents and other information on internal database.
  • Develop good relationships with other member of the bid team and the contributing subject matter experts.
  • Be accountable for the overall quality of bid submissions.
  • Contribute to process improvement.
  • Perform other duties as reasonably assigned.

Competencies and Basic Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction, or another relevant discipline is preferred. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Management or English is required.
  • Experience as a bid writer is preferred

 

Supervisory Responsibility

This position will not have any supervisory responsibilities. 

 

Work Environment

This job operates in a profession office environment.  This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

 

Travel

No travel is expected for this position.
