About the Role

SUMMARY: 

 The Surgical Services Supervisor is responsible for leading the daily operating and administrative functions in a Surgical Services setting with demonstrated expertise in surgical services nursing. The position provides direction and leadership to ensure great patient care and improved population health within an efficient cost structure, while improving the work life of providers and staff.  Principal responsibilities include oversight of the daily operations by managing resources and creating an environment of staff accountability in order to deliver a high-quality patient outcome.

 The Surgical Services Supervisor serves as a role model promoting competent patient care and compliance with quality improvement programs. This position manages surgical schedules, staff schedules and organizational needs employing communication and effective collaboration with staff, surgeons, anesthesia personnel, and other nursing and non-nursing leaders to provide optimal patient care and flow.

 This position actively supports an aligned approach toward the development and administration of surgical services policies, procedures and guidelines throughout all Ambulatory Surgery Center departments and participates in system wide problem solving, sharing of data and other collaborative efforts.

 The Surgical Services Supervisor supervises and coordinates activities of personnel in the operating room and sterile processing. Ensures adherence to procedure and schedule.  The Surgical Services Supervisor is responsible to the RN Manager of the Ambulatory Surgery Center.

 PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 Current licensure in this state as a registered nurse; BSN degree preferred. Demonstrate supervisory competence and three years' supervisory experience in an ambulatory surgery center or an operating room in an acute care hospital. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Human relations skills. ACLS certification preferred within 6 months of date of hire. Current BCLS certification.  Knowledge of personal computers.

 PHYSICAL GUIDELINES:

Physical guidelines include the ability to move, traverse, position self, remain in a stationary position and negotiate steps for up to eight hours per day; lifting, pulling and pushing of carts, equipment, etc.
