We’re looking for a passionate and highly organised Scientific Officer to join our Technical Partners Health team, supporting teaching and learning across the School of Medicine, Dentistry and Paramedicine and the School of Pharmacy and Medical Sciences. In this hands-on role, you’ll provide technical and scientific support for practical teaching and learning, working closely with academic staff and technical teams to deliver high-quality, safe, and innovative learning experiences for students.

As a Scientific Officer, you will:

• Prepare, set up and maintain laboratory spaces across different facilities, ensuring practical teaching sessions run smoothly and safely while supporting different technical teams
• Collaborate with technical and academic staff and course convenors to develop and deliver best-practice practical teaching activities and procedures
• Manage equipment and consumables, including stocktakes, procurement, maintenance and calibration to industry standards
• Develop and maintain documentation such as lab resource statements, risk assessments and standard operating procedures
• Provide technical instruction and support to staff, while contributing to special events, workshops and continuous improvement initiatives

About you

To be successful in this role, you will:

• Hold a relevant health or science-based degree or have an equivalent combination of training, knowledge, and experience in a similar technical support environment
• Have demonstrated experience supporting clinical, preclinical, simulation, or laboratory-based teaching activities
• Possess strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritise effectively and adapt to changing demands
• Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with academic staff and technical teams
• Show a commitment to continuous improvement, with a proactive, detail-oriented approach and a focus on delivering high-quality, safe and inclusive learning environments

What we can offer
This is a continuing, full-time position primarily based at the Griffith University’s Gold Coast. As Griffith is a multi-site university you may be required to work across other locations.

Griffith University’s sites are located on the lands of the Yugarabul, Yuggera, Jagera, Turrbal, Yugambeh and Kombumerri peoples.

Salary Range
The full-time base salary for a HEW Level 5 is in the range $82,415 - $92,456 per annum, plus 17% employer superannuation. The total FTE package is in the range $96,426- $108,174 per annum.
