JOB SUMMARY 

The Operations & Installation Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the branch warehouse and installation functions. This position manages installer scheduling and performance, warehouse personnel, inventory, shipping and receiving, job preparation, and overall workflow to ensure jobs are completed accurately, safely, efficiently, and according to industry standards.


The Operations & Installation Manager works closely with the Branch Manager, sales representatives, installers, warehouse associates, and office staff to identify and resolve issues, maintain operational efficiency, and ensure the branch has the resources and manpower necessary to meet its workload.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES  

  • Maintain an installer base sufficient to cover the branch's workload and scheduled installation needs.
  • Assign all installation jobs scheduled for the day and coordinate installer schedules and workloads.
  • Ensure installers are installing materials according to company and industry standards.
  • Monitor installer performance, address concerns, and communicate expectations regarding quality, safety, and productivity.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for installers regarding job assignments, materials, scheduling, and job-related concerns.
  • Answer and manage calls from installers, sales representatives, office staff, and other branch personnel.
  • Communicate job issues, material concerns, scheduling conflicts, or other problems to the appropriate sales representative or branch management.
  • Resolve installer conflicts, salesperson concerns, scheduling issues, and other day-to-day operational challenges.
  • Coordinate with the Branch Manager to ensure installation operations support the overall branch workload and customer commitments.
  • Oversee the daily duties and performance of warehouse associates and address areas requiring improvement.
  • Train new warehouse associates on company procedures, safety practices, material handling, and job preparation.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe warehouse environment.
  • Supervise the loading and preparation of materials for installation crews.
  • Operate a forklift to load and prepare materials for installation crews.
  • Scan jobs out, return materials, and ensure job-related materials are properly accounted for.
  • Complete daily reports reflecting shipping, receiving, job movement, and other required operational activity.
  • Work with the Branch Manager to maintain appropriate inventory levels.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and assist with inventory control, cycle counts, and reconciliation.
  • Ensure materials are properly received, stored, staged, returned, and accounted for.
  • Identify inventory shortages, discrepancies, damaged materials, or other issues and communicate them to appropriate management.


 PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Maintain safe work practices while meeting strict deadlines and productivity expectations.
  • Ensure warehouse and installation activities are performed in accordance with company safety procedures.
  • Promote proper material handling, equipment operation, and workplace safety among warehouse and installation personnel.
  • Ensure accuracy and attention to detail in job preparation, material handling, inventory, and installation coordination.
  • Address quality or performance concerns promptly and communicate recurring issues to management.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Supervise warehouse staff and provide direction, coaching, and accountability.
  • Assist the Branch Manager and Regional Vice President, as instructed.
  • Work collaboratively with sales, office, warehouse, installation, and management teams.
  • Prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required to support branch operations.

Requirements

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS  

Required Qualifications: 

  • Ability to perform physical tasks that may become strenuous, including lifting, carrying, standing, bending, and moving materials.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and manage competing demands effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Ability to maintain safe work practices while meeting strict deadlines.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Ability to supervise and provide direction to warehouse and installation personnel.
  • Ability to operate a forklift or willingness/ability to obtain required training.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to use scanning equipment/scan guns.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple phone calls, installer concerns, scheduling conflicts, salesperson requests, and operational issues.
  • Ability to make sound day-to-day decisions and communicate effectively with branch management.
  • Ability to work in a physically demanding warehouse and installation environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least 1 year of prior management or supervisory experience.
  • Basic knowledge of tools such as knives, staple guns, shears, and glue guns.
  • Previous warehouse, installation, construction, flooring, or related industry experience.
  • Experience with inventory management, shipping and receiving, or job scheduling.

  • Ensure shipping, receiving, scanning, and daily reporting are completed accurately and on time.
  • Support the Branch Manager in achieving branch operational goals.
  • Maintain a professional, solutions-oriented approach when managing competing priorities and conflicts.
