Summary
The Manager of Business Development is responsible for driving profitable growth across the Engineered Products Division by identifying, developing, capturing, and converting new business opportunities with U.S. Government, OEM, prime contractor, international, and commercial customers.
This role requires a strong combination of strategic business development, customer engagement, commercial judgment, and technical aptitude. The Manager develops growth strategies by product line, platform, customer, and market segment; builds and manages a disciplined opportunity pipeline; leads customer and capture activities; and coordinates cross-functional resources to develop competitive, executable proposals. The role also leads the Bid & Proposal team and is responsible for maintaining accurate opportunity, pipeline, and forecast data in Salesforce.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Under minimal supervision, the Manager is responsible for duties including, but not limited to:
- Develop and execute business development strategies across Engineered Products capabilities, product lines, platforms, OEMs, and targeted market segments.
- Identify, qualify, shape, and pursue new opportunities with existing and prospective U.S. Government, military, OEM, prime contractor, distributor, international, and commercial customers.
- Build and maintain a disciplined opportunity pipeline with clear next actions, capture milestones, probability of win, expected award timing, and revenue potential.
- Conduct regular customer visits and voice-of-customer discussions to understand requirements, budgets, acquisition strategies, competitive dynamics, and future program needs.
- Develop account and platform growth plans that identify whitespace opportunities and expand AllClear content on targeted aircraft and defense platforms.
- Lead capture plans and sales campaigns from opportunity qualification through proposal, negotiation, award, and transition to execution.
- Lead and manage the Bid & Proposal team, including RFQ/RFP prioritization, proposal schedules, compliance, cross-functional inputs, and on-time submission.
- Coordinate with Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, Quality, Contracts, Finance, and Sales to develop technically sound, competitively positioned, and executable proposals.
- Support bid/no-bid decisions by evaluating strategic fit, customer position, competitive landscape, technical capability, capacity, pricing, margin, risk, and probability of winning.
- Prepare customer presentations, capability packages, white papers, market analyses, proposals, and other business development materials.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key customer decision makers, influencers, program offices, procurement organizations, and industry partners.
- Represent AllClear in customer business reviews, program reviews, industry days, conferences, trade shows, and other key industry events.
- Maintain accurate and timely opportunity, activity, pipeline, and forecast information in Salesforce and provide management reporting as required.
- Track business development effectiveness through qualified pipeline growth, win rate, bookings, proposal cycle time, customer engagement, and opportunity conversion.
- Monitor competitor activity, market trends, platform sustainment requirements, government procurement activity, and emerging customer needs to identify new growth opportunities.
- Support strategic partnerships, licensing opportunities, teaming arrangements, and other channels that expand Engineered Products market access.
- Perform other business development, sales, marketing, and strategic growth responsibilities as assigned.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Business, Marketing, or a related discipline preferred; equivalent relevant aerospace and defense experience may be considered.
- Minimum of 5+ years of progressively responsible business development, sales, capture, program, or related experience in aerospace, defense, or engineered/manufactured products.
- Demonstrated experience developing and winning new business in a technical, manufacturing, or aerospace environment.
- Experience with U.S. Government, military, OEM, and/or defense prime contractor customers strongly preferred.
- Experience developing proposals and responding to RFQs/RFPs; prior leadership of bid and proposal activities preferred.
- Experience using Salesforce or a comparable CRM for pipeline management, forecasting, and reporting.
- Working knowledge of aerospace and defense markets, military aircraft sustainment, government procurement, and OEM/prime contractor business practices preferred.
- Working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems and data analysis tools preferred.
- Prior supervisory or team leadership experience preferred, including experience coordinating or leading cross-functional teams.
Travel
- Up to 50% domestic and international travel, including customer visits, conferences, trade shows, and travel to AllClear operating locations.
