About the Role

Description

Set up, adjust and operate cutoff saw, tube straightening and shot blast equipment. Perform a variety of operations of a roughing nature.

  • Speeds, feeds and operational sequences usually established but operator may adjust or modify within standard practice. Perform basic maintenance on equipment as needed.
  • Ensure heat number traceability.
  • Initiate process change requests and maintain accurate records of operations.
  • Work from written or verbal instruction, drawings, process sheets, route cards and knowledge of production operations to anticipate department needs and operate power forklift truck to transport materials, parts, fixtures, equipment and castings as needed to facilitate production.
  • Maintain log and service record on forklift equipment and report malfunctions to supervisor.
  • Perform level I liquid penetrant inspection including application of visible and/or fluorescent inspection to identify defects.
  • Perform cosmetic and investigative grinding as needed for test preparation and to determine seriousness of defects. Determine whether parts pass or fail inspection based on knowledge of defect seriousness and industry codes, standards, and customer specifications.
  • Prepare necessary documentation of inspection process.
  • Move parts by hand and using forklifts, hoists and other lifting equipment, to facilitate inspection.
  • Maintain Liquid Penetrant Level I certification.
  • Participate in department work groups.

Requirements

  • Able to follow written and verbal instruction with minimal supervision.
  • Math and language skills as normally attained through 4 years H.S. or equivalent including the ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide fractions and decimals.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Willingness to study materials on your own time in preparation for certification tests.
  • Basic blueprint knowledge.
  • Experience with basic measuring instruments.
  • Cutoff saw experience preferred.
  • Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs. repetitively and pushing and pulling heavy loads.
  • Must have or be able to obtain forklift certification.
