Job Summary

The Maintenance Engineer is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of production and facility equipment. This position performs preventative and predictive maintenance to help ensure equipment operates safely, reliably, and efficiently.


Essential Job Functions, Duties and Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair industrial, electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electronic control systems.

• Read and interpret basic electrical schematics, blueprints, drawings, and equipment manuals.

• Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on production and facility equipment and maintain required records.

• Install, inspect, test, repair, and maintain electrical motors, controls, instrumentation, and related equipment.

• Troubleshoot and repair production equipment and supporting facility systems.

• Maintain and inspect steam, heating, cooling, and water treatment systems.

• Determine materials, parts, and equipment needed for repairs and communicate needs to the Chief Engineer.

• Use hand and power tools to perform equipment repairs and maintenance.

• Follow all Company safety policies, including LOTO and OSHA requirements.

• Complete required maintenance documentation.

• Maintain a professional, friendly, and respectful work environment.

• Work extended hours and weekends when needed.

• Perform additional duties as assigned.

  

Work Environment 

Production areas of a typical industrial laundry facility, which includes working with and around large machinery, variations in temperature (non-air-conditioned work area), noise, humidity, odors, biological hazards, and other hazards. Frequent exposure to hazards including confined spaces, chemicals, steam under pressure, climbing, working in positions above and under equipment and throughout/outside of the facility. 

Worker is subject to sustained hot working environment. Internal and external environmental conditions without cooling air conditioning and internal temperatures vary and can be within range of 90 degrees Fahrenheit and higher. Worker is exposed to noise. There is sufficient noise to require the worker to shout to be heard above ambient noise level. 

Requirements

 Minimum Qualifications

• Previous industrial maintenance experience.

• Ability to read and troubleshoot electrical schematics.

• Basic knowledge of LOTO and OSHA safety requirements related to industrial operations.

• Ability to read and understand safety rules, operating instructions, and maintenance manuals.

• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.

• Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.

• Ability to operate a forklift and successfully complete required training and certification.

• Must pass a background check and drug screen in accordance with applicable laws.

• Ability to lift and manage up to 50 pounds.


Preferred Qualifications

• Previous industrial maintenance experience.

• Previous experience working in a commercial or industrial laundry facility.


Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk throughout the work shift.

• Ability to frequently bend, twist, kneel, crawl, reach, push, pull, grasp, and perform repetitive hand movements.

• Ability to frequently lift and move up to 50 pounds.

• Ability to regularly climb and descend stairs, ladders, scaffolding, and access equipment throughout the facility, including roof areas when required.

• Ability to work in tight or confined areas as needed.

• Ability to safely operate hand and power tools.

• Ability to wear required personal protective equipment based on job tasks and hazards.

• Ability to meet the physical demands of the position for the entire work shift.
