Junior Corporate Counsel

Location: McLean, VA

Work Environment: Hybrid

Role Summary

Exiger is seeking a Junior Corporate Counsel to support the Legal Team with a primary focus on commercial contracts and contract lifecycle management. This is an opportunity for an early-career attorney with several years of experience to move into an in-house environment, learn across a broad range of legal matters, and take on greater responsibility as they demonstrate sound judgment and strong execution.

What You’ll Do

  • Review, draft, and support the negotiation of commercial agreements, including nondisclosure agreements, statements of work, master service agreements and other customer and vendor contracts.
  • Support senior attorneys with contract analysis, legal research, drafting, and follow-up across the Legal team.
  • Identify contract issues and potential risks, summarize concerns clearly, and escalate matters that require senior legal review.
  • Partner with members of the Legal Team and business stakeholders to address day-to-day commercial questions and move agreements forward efficiently.
  • Maintain contract lifecycle management records, including agreement status, key details, and executed documents, so information remains accurate and accessible.
  • Coordinate approval and signature workflows, follow up on outstanding actions, and retain final signed agreements.
  • Support corporate recordkeeping by organizing documents, maintaining accurate files, and coordinating with colleagues responsible for company records.
  • Track deadlines, communicate progress, and follow through on concurrent assignments, raising questions early to keep matters moving.
  • Contribute to a range of corporate legal matters, which may include employment, compliance, privacy, and other projects based on business needs and demonstrated capability.
  • Use AI-enabled legal research, drafting, and workflow tools responsibly to improve turnaround time, consistency, and work quality while protecting confidential information and applying independent legal judgment.
  • Build knowledge of Exiger’s business and risk profile, seek feedback, and progressively take ownership of more complex assignments.

What You Need

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school and active membership in good standing with the bar of at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
  • One to three years of post-J.D. legal experience in commercial law, contracts, or a judicial clerkship; experience at a mid-sized or large law firm is preferred.
  • Demonstrated interest in commercial law and a working knowledge of contract principles; hands-on experience with nondisclosure agreements, statements of work, or similar commercial agreements is strongly preferred.
  • Strong legal research, analytical, and drafting skills, with the ability to explain relevant issues clearly.
  • Strong organization and attention to detail, with the ability to manage contract workflows, records, deadlines, and follow-through reliably.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, sound judgment, and a collaborative approach to working with legal and business colleagues.
  • Practical judgment, including the ability to recognize when to seek guidance or further review.
  • Willingness to handle legal administration alongside substantive assignments, including contract entry, signature coordination, and recordkeeping.
  • Initiative, accountability, and flexibility to manage changing priorities and support the team where needed.
  • Receptiveness to feedback and a commitment to developing as an in-house attorney, applying what you learn as you take on greater responsibility.
  • Agility and openness to AI-enabled ways of working, with the technical confidence to learn relevant contract and productivity tools and the judgment to use AI responsibly to improve the efficiency, effectiveness, and quality of legal work.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship from Exiger now or in the future.

Why You’ll Love Working at Exiger:

  • High-performance culture rooted in accountability, collaboration, and a shared commitment to excellence.
  • Discretionary Time Off for all employees, with no maximum limits on time off.
