Location: Columbia, MD (Hybrid/Remote – MON & WED in the office)

Job Overview: 

Cogent People Inc. is seeking an Automation Test Engineer to support a mission-critical large-scale system serving the Federal Government in the healthcare domain. The ideal candidate will be proficient in development and maintenance of comprehensive automated testing suites in a variety of programming languages (Scala, JavaScript, SQL, Python) using various testing frameworks and tools (Bruno, Postman, Selenium).

Responsibilities:

· Hands-on experience in test automation & tools such as (BRUNO, Selenium, Postman).

· Develop and maintain test suites in programming languages (Scala/JavaScript/Sql/python (basic)).

· Create/update Gatling simulations and build frameworks as needed to support functional design enhancements.

· Identify and assess automation test scripts & test coverage from manual test cases.

· Perform regular maintenance and upgrades to ensure system efficiency.

· Preferred knowledge of AI frameworks integration with codeAssist or Gen AI.

· Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in an Agile team environment.

· Maintaining and enhancing existing regression test cases per functional design for data integrity.

Requirements

· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

· 5+ years of experience automating quality assurance on front-end and back-end systems, including functional and non-functional testing (JavaScript, SQL, Python, Scala) using Bruno, Postman, and Selenium.

· Experience with SQL databases and queries.

· Experience with AWS.

· Experience interpreting requirements and defining and executing comprehensive test suites for large-scale IT systems, including test scenarios, positive/negative test cases, and supporting test data.

· Experience with performance testing using Gatling.

· Strong attention to detail with a commitment to delivering high-quality and accurate work.

· Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.

· Proven ability to manage time and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment. 

· High attention to detail with a focus on delivering quality and accuracy.

Preferred Qualifications:

· Experience in federal government programs or regulated environments (CMS experience is preferred).

· Relevant certifications in test automation, Agile methodologies, or API testing are a plus.

· Knowledge of emerging skills such as AI-assisted tools.
