About the Role

Luxury 5-Star Boutique Resort - Zanzibar

Zanzibar White Sand Luxury Villas & Spa is a 5-star Relais & Châteaux resort with One Michelin Key, located on Paje Beach, Zanzibar. We are looking for a highly hands-on Resort Manager to lead the daily on-site operation of our boutique luxury resort.

This is not a corporate GM position. We are looking for a practical hotelier who is present in the operation, close to guests and staff, and takes ownership of the daily running of the resort.

 

Job Description

Key responsibilities

• Lead daily resort operations across Front Office, Housekeeping, F&B, Spa, Maintenance, Security and the Watersports Center.

• Maintain a strong daily presence throughout the property and ensure consistently high standards of guest experience and service.

• Coordinate department heads, follow up on priorities and ensure agreed actions are completed.

• Liaise closely with Sales and Reservations, providing operational input before arrival and ensuring effective on-site coordination for guests, agents, groups and VIP stays.

• Ensure smooth communication between departments and effective handling of guest requests, incidents and complaints.

• Monitor operational standards, costs, staffing and productivity.

• Identify problems early, implement practical solutions and ensure recurring issues are permanently addressed.

• Support recruitment, training and development of the operational team.

• Work closely and transparently with the owners on key operational and strategic matters.

Qualifications

Profile

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in luxury hospitality, including management responsibility.
  • Resort / hotel management experience preferred; strong Assistant Resort Manager, EAM or Director of Operations profiles ready for the next step are also welcome.
  • Beach, island or resort experience is a strong advantage.
  • Africa, Indian Ocean or remote-resort experience is highly valued.
  • Hands-on, practical and comfortable working directly with guests and teams.
  • Independent, accountable and highly organised.
  • Strong communication and follow-up skills.
  • Calm, proactive and solution-oriented.
  • Fluent English required. French is a strong advantage.
  • Ready to relocate to Zanzibar and be permanently based on site.

Owner-led environment

The resort is owner-led, with the owners actively involved in strategy, development and key decisions. The Resort Manager will have responsibility for day-to-day operations and should be comfortable working in a close, transparent and constructive relationship with the owners.
