Job Summary:

The Assistant Branch Manager is responsible for directly managing the daily branch operations, accurately and courteously assisting customers, processing customer transactions, selling and cross-selling Bank services, originating new consumer and home equity loans and performing other branch management functions as assigned. Contributes to the overall sales growth of the bank. Responsible for providing the highest level of Customer Service, and adhering to the Bank’s Core Values, and Service Standards.

Essential Functions:

Customer Experience:

  • Provides the highest level of customer service and promotes a culture of professional, courteous and efficient customer service amongst the branch team.
  • Refers customers to the appropriate bank colleagues for more advanced problem resolution.
  • Performs other branch duties as required in order to exceed customer expectations.
  • Maintains a thorough knowledge of the Bank’s products and services.
  • Utilizes Customer Feedback process to support Service Standards.
  • Follows up on customer feedback, takes responsibility for complete resolution.
  • Actively participates in community events as a representative of the Bank.
  • Treats customer and Bank information with the highest degree of privacy, integrity, and confidentiality
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Branch Operations:

  • Oversees the daily activities of the branch to ensure consistently high levels of customer service, accuracy, efficiency, and compliance.
  • Acts as branch manager in the Branch Manager’s absence.
  • Maintains prescribed security controls.
  • Acts as branch contact person for all operations issues.
  • Monitors the functioning of all branch equipment; performs maintenance in accordance with established procedures, contacts appropriate repair personnel as necessary.
  • Coordinates branch staffing and schedules to ensure adequate coverage at all times.
  • Oversees and assists with the overall operations of the branch including; customer transactions, approve transactions requiring supervisor approval, signs official Bank checks to limit of authority, branch cash orders, ensures branch cash records are maintained in accordance with established procedures, cash verification, and opening and close procedures.
  • Assists with teller settlement and error resolution, including computer system input errors.
  • Oversees ATM and other branch settlement procedures to ensure timely and accurate settlement of cash, cash items, and monthly reports.
  • Open new consumer and business accounts.
  • Deepens customer relationships by providing the best deposit solutions for our customers.
  • Refers loan opportunities to the appropriate colleagues.
  • Comply with all Federal, State and Bank policies and procedures.

Loan Origination:

  • Originates consumer and home equity loan applications according to established bank policy and procedures.
  • Refers leads to commercial lender, mortgage loan originator, branch personnel, or 3rd party vendors as appropriate
  • Approves loans according to individual lending authority and bank policy

Department Management:

  • Supervises the activities of the branch staff, establishes performance standards and objectives.
  • Conducts regular development meetings, annual performance appraisals and salary reviews with staff.
  • Initiates individual development plans for staff members to improve and expand their skills and capabilities, recommends training as needed.
  • Makes and approves recommendations for employment, promotions, transfers and terminations.

Education, Skills, and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent in education and related work experience.
  • At least three years of progressively more responsible experience in branch banking, including staff management and business development.
  • Experience in home equity and consumer loan origination; prior lending authority.
  • Be punctual with scheduled work and use time appropriately.
  • Perform duties in a conscientious, cooperative manner.
  • Maintains a professional appearance.
  • Able to consistently treat others with respect; keeps commitments; inspires the trust of others; works ethically and with integrity; upholds organizational values; accepts responsibility for own actions.
  • Commitment to achieving personal and team growth and success through an understanding and commitment to the Bank's sales culture goals.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to spend extended periods of time operating a computer keyboard and working at a computer monitor.
  • Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods of time while waiting on customers.
  • Must be able to lift cash boxes and currency/cash bags of approximately 20 pounds.
  • Workspaces are generally comfortable and pleasant. 
  • Employees should have no expectation of privacy when using employer-owned or employer-provided electronic devices, systems, networks, or communication platforms to the extent permitted by law and company policy.

The budgeted salary range for this position is $45,500.00-$52,500.00. Final compensation will be based on the candidate’s qualifications, experience, skills, internal equity, and business needs.
