About the Role

Company Description

Fairmont Amman offers travelers and residents of Amman luxury accommodations in 317 spacious guest rooms and suites, including Fairmont Gold, the hotel’s exclusive hotel within a hotel. With a modern, beautiful architectural design and stunning interiors, we make use of the finest wood and marble, and our rooms and hotel interiors combine classic luxury with contemporary design, all housed in spacious rooms of at least 42 square meters or more.

Job Description

1. Financial Reporting

  • You will oversee the daily operations of the Accounting Department, coordinate statutory and tax reporting, manage month-end and year-end closing, and maintain effective internal controls. You will also create a collaborative environment in which colleagues feel trusted, supported and inspired to grow.
  • Lead, motivate and develop the Accounting Team, fostering collaboration, accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee the daily operations of the Accounting Department, ensuring an accurate and efficient workflow.
  • Manage month-end and year-end closing processes in line with the agreed timetable.
  • Prepare statutory financial statements and month-end Profit and Loss reports.

2. Accounts Payable & Receivable

  • Supervise and review Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable activities.
  • Ensure timely processing of invoices, payments and collections.
  • Monitor outstanding receivables and follow up on overdue accounts.
  • Ensure proper documentation and approval of financial transactions.

3. Income Audit & Revenue Control

  • Review daily revenue reconciliation from Front Office, F&B and other revenue-generating departments.
  • Verify cash, credit card and other payment transactions.
  • Investigate discrepancies and ensure corrective action is taken.
  • Ensure proper controls over hotel revenue and cash handling.

4. Budget & Cost Control

  • Assist in preparing the annual budget and financial forecasts.
  • Monitor departmental expenses against approved budgets.
  • Analyse variances and provide recommendations to management.
  • Support effective cost-control initiatives throughout the hotel.

5. Internal Controls & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with hotel policies, accounting standards and financial procedures.
  • Assist with internal, external and statutory audits.
  • Maintain proper financial records and supporting documentation.
  • Identify financial risks and recommend appropriate control measures.

6. Payroll & HR Coordination

  • Assist in reviewing monthly payroll and related financial reports.
  • Verify payroll-related costs, deductions and supporting documents.
  • Work closely with Human Resources to ensure payroll accuracy and compliance.

7. Inventory & Stock Control

  • Assist in monitoring food, beverage, operating supplies and other hotel inventories.
  • Review inventory reports and investigate significant variances.
  • Support regular stock-taking and ensure proper inventory controls.

8. Team Supervision

  • Supervise and guide Finance team members in their daily responsibilities.
  • Provide coaching and training to improve team performance.
  • Ensure work is completed accurately and within established deadlines.
  • Promote teamwork and professional standards within the Finance Department.

Qualifications

  • A university degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or a related discipline.
  • Significant professional accounting experience, including experience in a senior or team leadership position.
  • Excellent knowledge of accounting and tax regulations, particularly VAT, withholding tax
  • Practical experience in statutory reporting and managing month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Experience working with external auditors, tax authorities.
  • A strong understanding of internal controls, financial compliance and segregation of duties.
  • Proven ability to lead, coach and develop an accounting team.
  • Excellent analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to meet demanding deadlines.
  • Professional proficiency in English.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience with accounting systems.
