School Crossing Guard (Part-time)

SUMMARY

The School Crossing Guard helps provide a safe environment for students and families during school arrival and dismissal. This position assists students with safely crossing designated streets, driveways, parking areas, and other assigned areas around the school.

The ideal candidate is dependable, alert, safety conscious, and comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist students and pedestrians with safely crossing designated areas during arrival and dismissal.
• Monitor vehicle and pedestrian traffic and remain alert to potential safety concerns.
• Follow established crossing procedures and use required safety equipment.
• Encourage students to follow pedestrian and school safety procedures.
• Communicate professionally with students, families, staff, visitors and, and motorists.
• Report accidents, unsafe conditions, or other concerns to school administration.
• Arrive on time and remain at the assigned location throughout the scheduled shift.
• Follow school safety procedures and emergency protocols.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently
• Good communication skills and sound judgement
• Ability to remain alert and attentive around students and traffic
• Must successfully complete required background checks and employment requirements.

Physical & Work Environment

This position requires standing and walking outdoors during student arrival and dismissal. Employees must be able to maintain visual and auditory awareness of students, pedestrians, vehicles, and surrounding activity.

The position requires working outdoors in changing weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, wind, snow, and seasonal weather. Employees should be prepared to work around wet, snowy, icy, or uneven surfaces and must dress appropriately for outdoor conditions.

Schedule

This is a part-time, non-exempt position primarily scheduled around student arrival and dismissal times. Hours may vary based on the school calendar, delayed starts, early dismissals, school closures, and operational needs.
