Our Company History Founded in 1950 by Thomas & Margaret Giel, our company was incorporated in 1974. During the 1980’s, founders and son worked to transform the “mom and pop” shop to a corporation that today has 40+ employees, with 35+ full-time trucks to service their customer’s needs. Edward B. Giel assumed Ownership and Presidency of the company following his father’s retirement in 1989. Ed has built and expanded the business over to years so that key staff members in the service, sales, accounting, inventory & production departments run the daily operations. Candice Giel Brown is Ed’s oldest daughter and currently Vice President of the company. Candice is in the process of purchasing the company from Ed and she will be the 3rd generation owner of Thomas V. Giel Garage Doors, Inc. Candice along with the management team run the day to day operations. Thomas V. Giel Garage Doors, Inc. furnishes and installs garage doors, openers, entry, patio & storm doors, louvered pergolas, retractable & aluminum awnings, and retractable screens for residential and commercial customers. We work with customers to help discover what is important for them when replacing, maintaining, and servicing any of our products. We are proud to offer honest quality workmanship, Thomas V. Giel Corporation backs up their work with a “Written Labor Warranty”. The company also follows the IDA Code of Business Conduct and Regional/National and Building Safety Codes. Summary

As an Entry Door Installer, you will be responsible for the professional installation, replacement, and servicing of residential entry door systems. This includes fiberglass, steel, wood, storm, and patio doors, as well as associated hardware, trim, and accessories. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, detail-oriented, customer-focused, and committed to delivering a quality installation experience.

Duties

  • Install entry doors, storm doors, patio doors, and related products according to manufacturer specifications and company standards. 
  • Measure, prepare, and modify openings as needed to ensure proper fit and operation. 
  • Install hardware including locks, handle sets, closers, and weatherstripping. 
  • Ensure products are properly sealed, insulated, and adjusted for optimal performance. 
  • Educate customers on product operation, maintenance, and warranty information. 
  • Maintain inventory, tools, and equipment assigned to company vehicles. 
  • Complete all required paperwork, job documentation, and customer signoffs accurately. 
  • Maintain a safe and organized work environment at all job sites and company facilities. 
  • Communicate professionally with customers, team members, and management throughout the installation process. 
  • Identify and report product, jobsite, or safety concerns promptly.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • 2+ years of experience installing entry doors, windows, garage doors, or related exterior building products. 
  • Acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) to be added to company insurance.
  • General construction and carpentry knowledge.
  • Ability to safely use power tools, hand tools, ladders, and measuring equipment.
  • Personal handheld tools.
  • Current PA Medical DOT Certificate (or ability to obtain in a timely manner).
  • Ability to pass pre-employment screening, including drug test and background check.
  • Reliable transportation to and from the warehouse location.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with finish carpentry, trim work, and residential remodeling. 
  • OSHA 10 certification. 
  • First Aid and/or CPR certification. 
  • Strong understanding of construction techniques and building materials.

Work Conditions

  • Non-climate-controlled environment with exposure to various weather conditions. 
  • Frequent standing, bending, kneeling, climbing, and lifting up to 75 pounds. 
  • Operation of ladders, scaffolding, and powered equipment as required. 
  • Daily local travel to customer homes and job sites.
