Job Summary: 

The Receiving Inspector II is an experienced quality control professional responsible for inspecting and verifying incoming materials, components, and products, and for performing First Article Inspections (FAI) to validate new and revised parts against engineering requirements. Building on the core receiving inspection function, this role interprets engineering drawings and specifications, prepares and reviews FAI documentation, and supports the disposition of non-conforming material. The Receiving Inspector II also serves as a resource and mentor to junior inspectors, helping to maintain high quality standards at the start of the production process. Strong attention to detail, solid knowledge of inspection methods and measurement tools, effective problem-solving skills, and the ability to work well in a team-oriented environment are essential for success in this role.

Key Responsibilities: 

• Inspect and verify all incoming shipments (raw materials, components, and finished goods) for compliance with company specifications and quality standards.

• Perform First Article Inspections (FAI) on new and revised parts in accordance with company procedures and customer requirements (e.g., AS9102 where applicable), verifying all drawing dimensions, notes, and specifications.

• Prepare, complete, and review First Article Inspection reports and supporting documentation, ensuring accuracy and completeness prior to approval.

• Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T to determine inspection requirements and acceptance criteria.

• Perform visual inspections, dimensional measurements, and functionality tests using precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, pin gauges, etc.).

• Review and verify certificates of compliance, material certifications, test reports, product specifications, and packaging integrity.

• Document, tag, and segregate non-conforming material; initiate non-conformance reports and support Material Review Board (MRB) dispositions and supplier corrective actions.

• Maintain detailed and accurate records of inspections, including non-conformances, rejections, and returns.

• Work closely with procurement, warehouse, production, and engineering teams to ensure efficient and timely inspection of materials.

• Provide guidance, training, and mentorship to Receiving Inspector I personnel and assist with workload prioritization.

• Support internal and external audits by providing inspection records and FAI documentation as requested.

Qualifications: 

• High school diploma or equivalent (preferred); additional technical certifications or training in quality control or related fields is a plus (e.g., ASQ Certified Quality Inspector).

• 3+ years of experience in a quality control or inspection role, preferably in a manufacturing or warehouse environment.

• Hands-on First Article Inspection experience required, including preparing and reviewing FAI documentation; familiarity with AS9102 requirements preferred.

• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.

• Proficiency with precision measuring instruments and inspection equipment.

• Familiarity with ERP and quality management systems and inspection record-keeping.

Physical Requirements: 

· Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift 

· Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 25 lbs regularly 

· Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, and reach to inspect materials at various heights 

· Ability to use hands and fingers to operate tools, scanners, and measuring equipment 

· Visual acuity sufficient to detect defects, read labels, and review documentation 

· Ability to work in a warehouse environment with exposure to varying temperatures and moderate noise levels 

· Must be able to wear required PPE including safety footwear and safety glasses
