SUMMARY 


Under the direct supervision of the Squadron Supervisor performs routine and       extensive preventive maintenance and repair on Navy Watercraft LARCs and ABLTS.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following.  Other duties may be assigned:

 

  1. Evaluate mechanical problems.
  2. Rebuild, replace or repair major components.
  3. Inspect and perform preventive maintenance on hydraulics systems.
  4. Perform engine tune-ups as needed.
  5. Perform routine mechanical maintenance and preventive care.
  6. Operate tools, equipment and machinery according to prescribe safety procedures.
  7. Follow establish safety procedures to perform job duties.
  8. Ensure equipment and tools are in a safe operating condition. 
  9. Completes all necessary documentation in a neat and timely manner.
  10. Comply with all applicable laws and regulations as well as company policies and procedures.
  11. Perform other duties as required.
  12. Follow defined Safety, Health and Environmental policies and procedures.

 

 QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS 

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

 

EDUCATION

 

High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED)

 

EXPERIENCE

 

Minimum of three (3) years’ experience preferred.

 

 

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND REGISTRATION

 

 

Verifiable Diesel Mechanic Training from Technical or Trade School

 

 

 

 

SKILLS AND ABILITIES 

 

Language Skills

  1. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.

 

  1. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

 

  1. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

 

Mathematical Skills

  1. Ability to add, subtracts, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.

 

  1. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance.

 

  1. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs
  2.  

 

Reasoning Ability

  1. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

 

  1. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
