Blocker - Swing Shift

Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Performs blocking and forming activities as part of      the production process.
• Operates blocking equipment and uses established      techniques to form hats to required production standards.
• Follows established production methods, safety      procedures, and direction from supervisors or leads.
• Identifies and communicates equipment, material,      safety, or process concerns.
• Meets established productivity, attendance, and work      performance expectations.
• Maintains a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Works collaboratively with supervisors, leads, and      coworkers to support production workflow.
• Learns and performs related production activities as      operational needs change.
• Performs other related duties as requested, directed,      or assigned.

Requirements

 Education and Experience

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Previous manufacturing, production, or similar      hands-on work experience preferred.
• Ability to learn Richardson products, production      processes, equipment, and work procedures.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Ability to understand and follow verbal instructions      and demonstrated work procedures.
• Ability to learn and consistently perform established      production processes.
• Ability to perform repetitive work with consistency      and attention to detail.
• Ability to maintain an appropriate work pace and meet      established production expectations.
• Ability to communicate concerns and work effectively      both independently and as part of a team.

Training Requirements

Employees are expected to successfully complete and maintain training required for the position and assigned work area, including:

• General workplace and production safety training.
• Blocking equipment and process training.
• Heat and steam safety training.
• Other job-specific training based on assigned      responsibilities.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described below are representative of those necessary to successfully perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.

• Stands for the duration of the work shift, excluding      scheduled breaks and meal periods.
• Frequently uses hands, wrists, arms, and upper body      to handle, position, and form hats.
• Performs repetitive hand, wrist, arm, and upper-body      movements throughout the workday.
• Frequently reaches, grasps, handles, and manipulates      products and materials.
• Requires continuous or frequent visual attention to      the forming process.
• Must be able to lift, carry, push, pull, or move      materials weighing up to 20 pounds.

Personal Protective Equipment

Employees are required to use any personal protective equipment designated as required for the assigned task or work area. Optional protective equipment available for Blocking activities includes:

• Protective arm sleeves.
• Heat-resistant gloves.
• Safety Glasses. 

Work Environment

Work is performed in a manufacturing and production environment. The Blocking position regularly works around production equipment and is exposed to steam, heat, heated equipment, and hot surfaces associated with the blocking process. Noise levels and production activity may vary throughout the workday.

Employees are expected to follow all applicable safety procedures and established operating practices.

Shift Schedule: Monday - Thursday 3:30pm-2:00am.
