The Quality Systems and Process Specialist leads the development, improvement, and preventive control of quality systems and manufacturing quality processes. The position owns NADCAP readiness, ongoing compliance quality planning, contract and specification review, quality metrics, and the redesign of processes needed to prevent recurring failures. This role provides senior technical guidance to inspectors and cross functional teams in a defense manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• · Lead development, maintenance, and continual improvement of the Quality Management System and related manufacturing quality processes.
• · Own NADCAP preparation, audit readiness, ongoing compliance finding response, and sustained process controls for applicable special processes.
• · Lead quality participation in contract and specification reviews and translate customer government and technical requirements into clear internal and supplier requirements.
• · Apply and interpret applicable Navy technical publications including NAVSEA 248 271 278 and 1688 requirements.
• · Develop, maintain, and revise quality plans, inspection hold points, control methods, and quality requirements for routers and shop orders.
• · Coordinate MRR and VRR workflow and closure and provide or obtain technical disposition input in accordance with the established approval matrix.
• · Analyze defects, nonconformances, audit results, and quality performance data using Pareto analysis and other appropriate methods to identify trends and improvement priorities.
• · Redesign procedures, workflows, and preventive controls to eliminate recurring quality failures and reduce manufacturing delays.
• · Conduct internal quality system and process audits and recommend or require corrective improvements within delegated authority.
• · Provide technical guidance to inspectors and other employees regarding drawings specifications, GD&T measurement techniques, quality plans, and acceptance requirements.
• · Develop and deliver quality training for inspectors and other departments based on identified needs, process changes, and compliance requirements.
• · Partner with the Quality Assurance Specialist on systemic corrective actions while retaining ownership of broader process and system improvements.
• · Collaborate with Contracts, Engineering, Operations, Purchasing, Program Management, and suppliers to resolve complex quality and requirement issues.
• · Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

Required Qualifications

• · Bachelor’s degree in engineering, quality, manufacturing or a related technical field or an equivalent combination of education and directly relevant industry experience.
• · Five to eight years of progressive quality engineering, quality systems, or manufacturing quality experience; including at least five years supporting defense, aerospace, or similarly regulated manufacturing.
• · Demonstrated experience with quality management systems, internal auditing, quality plans, corrective action, process improvement, and material review activities.
• · Working knowledge of NADCAP preparation and compliance for applicable special processes.
• · Ability to interpret drawings, GD&T specifications, contracts supplier flow downs, and government or customer quality requirements.
• · Experience analyzing quality data and converting findings into practical sustainable process controls.
• · Ability to provide technical direction and training to inspectors and cross functional partners.
• · Strong written, verbal, analytical, and problem solving skills.
• · Proficiency with Microsoft Office and applicable quality manufacturing or enterprise systems.

Preferred Qualifications

• · Direct experience with AS9100, ISO 9001, DCMA, and Navy quality requirements. 
• · Working knowledge of applicable NAVSEA technical publications including 248, 271, 278, and 1688.
• · ASQ certification such as Certified Quality Engineer, Certified Quality Auditor, or equivalent.
• · NADCAP audit preparation or special process compliance experience.
• · Lean Six Sigma or other formal continuous improvement training.
