FBS Agile Dev Team Member II - Guidewire PolicyCenter

Job Summary

This position works with business stakeholders, solution engineers, product owners, and Agile team members to develop, test, and deploy Guidewire PolicyCenter configuration and integration solutions. The role uses foundational to intermediate Guidewire development skills, follows established coding and design standards, and delivers reliable working functionality each sprint with support and guidance from senior developers, solution engineers, or architects.

Essential Job Functions

• Interprets customer and business needs and provides technical input into feasible application solutions and system design.
• Codes and configures programs, objects, components, and packaged software using established standards and conventions.
• Documents implementation details and performs quality checks on code, configuration, related components, test evidence, and supporting documentation.
• Delivers working functionality incrementally each sprint and modifies existing code or configuration to meet approved requirements.
• Performs detailed impact assessments across people, processes, data, applications, and integrations; identifies and raises functional design risks.
• Partners with the Product Owner and team to confirm that implementation and acceptance tests reflect the intended functionality.
• Applies Test-Driven Development and Behavior-Driven Development practices where appropriate to build quality into the solution.
• Uses data creation tools, reviews automated test results, and applies basic development and test automation frameworks.
• Supports application implementation, release, environment troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and corrective actions with guidance.
• Takes ownership of assigned deliverables, communicates status and impediments, and completes issue resolution in a timely manner.

Guidewire Technical Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of experience in software development, solution engineering, or a related technology field.
• Minimum 1 year of hands-on experience with Guidewire products, preferably PolicyCenter, including configuration and integration development.
• Hands-on exposure to Guidewire products, preferably PolicyCenter, through configuration, integration, support, testing, or implementation work.
• Foundational experience with PolicyCenter configuration, including product model, business rules, workflows, user interface components, data model extensions, and validation logic.
• Ability to read, write, and modify Gosu code, page configuration files, business rules, data model extensions, and basic unit tests such as GUnit tests.
• Basic understanding of PolicyCenter integrations using REST services, Guidewire APIs, messaging, events, plugins, batch processes, and enterprise system interfaces.
• Working knowledge of source control, build processes, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and environment support practices.
• Guidewire Cloud or SaaS delivery exposure is preferred. Advanced Product Designer or Jutro Digital Platform exposure is a plus.
• Foundational property and casualty insurance knowledge, including products, coverages, underwriting processes, and integration touchpoints.

Agile Delivery and Collaboration

• Writes and refines user stories with clear technical tasks and accurate acceptance criteria; estimates work using relative sizing.
• Participates in PI Planning, Sprint Planning, backlog refinement, daily stand-ups, system demos, retrospectives, and Inspect and Adapt activities.
• Commits to team PI objectives and sprint goals, communicates progress and impediments, and owns assigned work items.
• Demonstrates working functionality to Product and Business Owners and supports iteration and PI System Demos.
• Practices continuous exploration, continuous integration, and continuous deployment to support the Continuous Delivery Pipeline and DevOps.
• Actively develops T-shaped skills, participates in Communities of Practice, shares knowledge, and contributes ideas for continuous improvement.
• Works effectively across development, testing, product, architecture, and business partners to improve flow and transparency.

• Foundational knowledge of object-oriented programming, declarative concepts, defensive coding, error handling, version control, databases, SQL, and integrated development environments.
• Working-level understanding of applications within the assigned domain and the flow of data between internal and external systems.
• Broad understanding of insurance concepts, terminology, products, and business processes.
• Ability to share knowledge, provide constructive feedback, and train or support others in areas of developing expertise.

Education and Certification Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, or a related field preferred.
• Guidewire Configuration or Integration certification is preferred or expected based on assignment needs.
