POSITION SUMMARY: The Team Lead for Mortgage Processing oversees workflow, provides guidance to processors, and ensures loans move efficiently from application to closing. This role drives accuracy, compliance, and team performance through coaching, problem solving, and coordination with underwriting and sales partners.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
- Responsible for the management, coaching, and mentoring of the other loan processors within the department.
- Order, receive, and review all appropriate documents, including survey, appraisal, credit report updates, title work, appraisal, final inspections, hazard insurance, flood certification, flood insurance if required, and other legal documents. Ensure all hazard insurance and flood insurance meet investor requirements prior to the loan closing
- Review and analyze all aspects of the mortgage credit package, including but not limited to the accuracy of the file input, timely delivery of required application disclosures, title policy, assets and asset documentation, income figures, and income documentation, including personal and corporate tax returns, credit report/credit documentation and appraisal review.
- Assist residential loan applicants. Verifying that application data is complete, accurate, and meets established standards, including type and amount of mortgage, borrow assets, liabilities, and length of employment.
- Document mortgage loan files within the mortgage loan origination software as required.
- Process purchases, refinance, home equity, home improvement, and interim construction loans
- Evaluate credit reports to determine creditworthiness based on industry standards. Prepare loan packages for underwriting review. Process approved mortgage loans. Satisfy underwriter conditions promptly
- Have a working knowledge of FNMA, FHLMC, HMDA, FHA, VA, and State-sponsored down payment and other assistance programs
- Comply with all state and federal laws and regulations set forth by the National Credit Union Administration and other regulatory agencies
- Check names against designated lists in compliance with BSA/AML/OFAC policy and procedures
- Promote and maintain a positive and professional image of Union Square to employees, members, and the community
- Secure and safeguard at all times the confidential information of members, employees, and the Credit Union pertaining to accounts, security, and personal information
- Responsible for knowing and adhering to USCU policies and procedures as outlined in the employee handbook and training manuals
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor, management, or Human Resources.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
Three years to five years of similar or related experience.
EDUCATION:
(1) A bachelor's degree, or (2) achievement of formal certifications recognized in the industry as equivalent to a bachelor's degree (e.g., information technology certifications in lieu of a degree).
