HR Coordinator

Location: Torrance, California (On-site)
Department: Human Resources
Reports To: HR Director


About the Role

The HR Coordinator supports the day-to-day administration of core Human Resources programs and processes, including HRIS data management, benefits administration, compliance and recordkeeping, onboarding/offboarding processing, leave administration, and HR reporting.

As OKSI is a cleared defense contractor, this position requires strict attention to confidentiality, data security, and regulatory compliance.


What You’ll Do

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records in the HRIS, including personal data changes, job/pay changes, and organizational structure updates.
  • Process new hire paperwork, including Form I-9 completion/E-Verify, benefits enrollment forms, and required company policy acknowledgments.
  • Coordinate offboarding administration, including final documentation, system deactivation requests, and exit paperwork processing.
  • Administer employee benefits programs (medical, dental, vision, 401(k), FSA/HSA, life/disability), including enrollments, changes, terminations, and vendor billing reconciliation.
  • Serve as a point of contact for benefits-related questions and coordinate with brokers/carriers to resolve administrative issues.
  • Support leave of absence administration (FMLA, CFRA, PDL, ADA accommodations, workers' compensation) by tracking eligibility, correspondence, and required notices.
  • Coordinate logistics for company-wide HR programs such as open enrollment, training sessions, performance review cycles, and company events.
  • Maintain and audit personnel files, I-9 files, and confidential HR records in accordance with recordkeeping and retention requirements.
  • Respond to employment verification requests and unemployment claims.
  • Assist in drafting, updating, and distributing HR policies, forms, and the employee handbook under the direction of the HR Director.
  • Support internal audits related to HR compliance (e.g., I-9 audits, OFCCP/AAP recordkeeping) as directed.
  • Perform other HR administrative duties as assigned.

What You’ll Bring

  • Strong knowledge of HRIS systems and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Excellent organizational skills and high attention to detail, particularly with confidential and sensitive data.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Discretion in handling confidential personnel and company information.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred; equivalent combination of education and experience considered.
  • 2+ years of experience in an HR administrative, coordinator, or generalist support role.
  • Experience supporting HR functions within a government contracting or cleared-facility environment is a plus.
  • PHR, SHRM-CP, or equivalent certification is a plus.

A Few Additional Requirements

As a cleared defense contractor, OKSI requires that this position be filled by a U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or protected individual) as defined by ITAR/EAR.

Candidates must be able to successfully pass a background check as a condition of employment and obtain and maintain any facility access authorization required for the role.
