Work Location: Leesburg, VA — Hybrid (In-office expectations aligned with company hybrid policy)
Position Summary
The Government Contracts Summer Intern supports Vertosoft’s Legal & Contracts team during the summer term by assisting with contract administration, documentation management, compliance tracking, and reporting activities across federal and State & Local (SLED) markets.
This internship provides practical exposure to public sector contracting processes within a technology reseller environment. The role offers hands-on experience with contract lifecycle management, regulatory frameworks, and cross-functional coordination in a compliance-driven setting.
Core Responsibilities
Contract Administration Support
· Assist the Government Contracts team with administrative and operational support related to active government contracts
· Support the organization, review, and maintenance of contract files and related documentation
· Assist with tracking deliverables, deadlines, and reporting requirements
· Support contract modification and documentation updates as directed
Documentation & Data Management
· Assist with data entry and record updates within contract management systems
· Support reporting activities by gathering and organizing contract-related data
· Maintain structured filing systems to ensure document accuracy and accessibility
· Assist in preparing contract summaries and internal documentation
Compliance & Regulatory Exposure
· Support monitoring of contract requirements and compliance deadlines
· Assist in reviewing solicitation documents and identifying key compliance elements
· Gain exposure to FAR, DFARS, GSA Schedule, and state/local procurement frameworks
· Assist with preparation of representations, certifications, and compliance documentation
Cross-Functional Coordination
· Coordinate with Sales, Finance, and Operations to gather required contract information
· Respond to internal requests for contract documentation under supervision
· Support special projects and ad hoc assignments as directed by the Government Contracts Program Manager
Other Responsibilities
· Other duties as assigned.

· Timely completion of assigned administrative and reporting tasks
· Demonstrated understanding of basic government contracting concepts by the end of the internship
· Professional communication and responsiveness to internal stakeholders
· Strong attention to detail in data management and documentation
Scope & Autonomy
· Operates under close supervision of the Government Contracts Program Manager
· Responsible for execution of assigned administrative and support tasks
· Escalates questions, compliance uncertainties, and documentation concerns appropriately
· Maintains confidentiality of sensitive contract and pricing information
Qualifications
Education
· Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Legal Studies, Political Science, or related field required
· Rising junior or senior preferred
Experience
· Prior internship, campus leadership, or relevant academic project experience preferred but not required
· Interest in government contracting, compliance, public administration, or business operations
Technical Skills
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
· Comfort working with spreadsheets and structured data
· Familiarity with document management systems preferred
