Manufacturing Support Technician – Production Floater

Rusco Manufacturing is looking for a dependable, motivated Manufacturing Support Technician / Production Floater to help keep our CNC machining operation running efficiently.

This is not a stand-at-one-machine-all-day position. We are looking for someone who enjoys staying busy, moving throughout the shop, and jumping in wherever help is needed. Your primary responsibility is simple: help remove the everyday obstacles that keep our machines and production team from making parts.

What You’ll Do

This position will support multiple departments throughout the facility, including production, material handling, marking, inspection/rework, and shipping.

Daily responsibilities may include:

• Cutting raw material and 4-foot bar stock for upcoming production jobs
• Preparing and staging material so machines do not run out of steel
• Helping unload, organize, and process material when steel deliveries arrive
• Dumping chip hoppers and assisting with chip handling
• Helping operators top off machine coolant
• Moving dunnage, containers, totes, and material throughout the facility
• Marking and identifying finished parts
• Assisting with sorting, inspection, CS1 containment, and rework when required
• Repacking customer parts and helping with special packaging requirements
• Supporting shipping during high-volume periods
• Keeping production areas organized and helping maintain good housekeeping
• Assisting machine operators and department leads with non-machining tasks that keep equipment producing
• Filling in wherever additional manpower is needed throughout the plant
• Operation of forklifts and pallet jacks

We are looking for someone who:

• Is dependable and has strong attendance
• Is comfortable working in a fast-paced machine shop
• Is willing to perform a wide variety of tasks
• Doesn't need to be told every minute what to do next
• Understands that keeping machines running is the priority
• Can safely move material and work around CNC equipment
• Is comfortable with physical work and being on their feet throughout the shift
• Works well with operators, supervisors, quality, and shipping personnel
• Takes pride in keeping the shop organized and production moving

Manufacturing or machine-shop experience is preferred, but attitude, reliability, and work ethic are extremely important for this role.

Why This Position Matters

In a machine shop, small delays quickly become lost production. A machine should not sit because it needs material, a chip hopper needs to be emptied, coolant needs attention, or an operator has to leave their machine to handle a support task.

This position is designed to be the person who keeps those problems from becoming downtime.
