Description
The Lead Hands is a key partner in organising and overseeing workshop activities to meet production targets safely and efficiently, in line with company certification requirements and health and safety regulations. This role supports workflow coordination, ensures compliance, and fosters a culture of teamwork and quality.
Key Responsibilities
Workshop Planning and Coordination
Collaborate, Courage, Customer Focus, Drive Results
- Assist with planning and coordinating workflow through the workshop to meet or exceed production targets.
- Schedule and organise teams to achieve specified quality and time goals.
- Raise estimates for work and support compliance with stock control procedures and stock level maintenance.
Operational and Compliance Oversight

- Oversee assigned workers to ensure all tasks are completed safely, on time, and to quality standards.
- Identify and communicate safety or time concerns related to processes, materials, or site conditions.
- Support Station Supervisor/Manager in ensuring compliance with Airworthiness Directives,mandatory SBs, customer requirements, and MOE responsibilities through toolbox meetings.
Repair and Maintenance Execution
Customer Focus, Drive Results, Collaborate
- Repair aviation components, containers, pallets, and related equipment in line with OEM technical publications and company MOE.
- Maintain a clean and tidy workshop area to support safe and efficient operations.
- Assist with responding to audit reports and implementing corrective actions as required.
Administrative Support

- Undertake administrative duties with a focus on accuracy and timeliness of information
- Assist with maintaining compliance records and supporting quality systems

Requirements
Skills and Experience
- Trade-based qualifications, preferably in aviation or general engineering.
- Practical experience in a sheet metal workshop or aviation-related environment.
- Certification as a welder preferred.
- Experience with inventory management and familiarity with quality systems.
- Computer skills, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Ability to read technical publications and drawings.
- Strong understanding of preventative maintenance practices and general aviation regulations.
- Proficiency in the use of hand tools.
