Shipping Lead

FUNCTION:
Supervises and manages the loading and unloading of trucks and the personnel responsible for performing these functions within the facility ensuring damage free movement of in-process and outbound materials.
KEY RESULT AREAS:
· Facilitates all aspects of the shipping and receiving department.
· Shipments are on time per customer requirements.
· Directs personnel to move parts and prepare shipments.
· Parts are constantly handled and protected properly and safely.
· Records are well kept and our ERP is updated and current
· Parts are packaged and shipped to specifications and standard shop practices.
· Wasted effort is constantly sought and eliminated.
· Constantly seeks additional work to ensure that a high level of productivity is achieved.
· Work problems are proactively solved as to prevent production disruption.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Receive in-bound materials, complete necessary documents, update ERP.
· Prepare out-bound shipments to include proper packaging, complete necessary documents, and update ERP.
· Incoming material discrepancies are documented and reported in a timely manner.
· Works with Shop Supervisors, cross departments to monitor, control and flow of product.
· Constantly monitors product quality by ensuring the safe and careful movement and storage of materials.
· Reviews daily and future work assignments, and directs activities of subordinates.
· May be required to drive the company truck to deliver or pick up materials.
· Maintains an inventory of packaging materials.
· Packages and protects all outbound material.
· Identifies shipping damage.
· Compare material certifications to actual items.
· Works directly with inspection to get parts checked for shipment.
· Maintain books of general specifications to Magna quality procedures.
· Record in computer all required purchasing records.
· Receiving product- inspected visually and/or measured to assure correctness.
· Maintains and keeps work area clean.
· Monitors employee performance by assuring that individuals have necessary skills and tools to adequately perform tasks and takes corrective measures as necessary to meet standards.
· Mentors and motivates subordinates to achieve high productivity and quality through effective work assignment, leadership and performance to evaluation expectation.
· Assumes various other duties as assigned.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
· Must be a US citizen
High School Diploma/GED or equivalent demonstrated work knowledge.
· Four years progressive achievements in area of shipping and receiving expertise.
· Valid driver’s license.
· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
· Basic computer skills and understanding
· Good organizational skills
· Detail oriented
· Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.
· Stoop/bend/kneel/crouch/balance/climb on an occasional basis
