Description

Job Summary:

The Accounting Intern position will have a variety of responsibilities under the supervision of the Controller. This is a great opportunity to get hands on experience with accounting in the agricultural and agronomy retail industry. Key Responsibilities are listed below, and the exact responsibilities could vary from the list. This position is at the Corporate Office in Huntingburg, IN.


Key Responsibilities: 

  •  Maintain accurate financial records and assist with data entry, account reconciliations, and month-end activities.
  •  Support the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
  •  Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
  •  Assist with budgeting, forecasting, cost analysis, and inventory accounting.
  •  Support accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, including invoice processing and payment tracking.
  •  Gather documentation for audits, tax returns, and regulatory filings.
  •  Help document accounting procedures and maintain effective internal controls.
  •  Contribute to accounting system improvements, team initiatives, training, and special projects.
  • Assist with projects to make certain processes more efficient
  • Other duties as assigned
  • During the internship period the intern will be expected to complete a project established between the intern and their supervisor, and to present the completed project to the management team at the completion of the internship period

 




Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Foundational knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Careful attention to detail, accuracy, and confidentiality.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, manage priorities, and work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Interest in agriculture, agribusiness, or the cooperative business model is a plus.
