About The Company
UGL Regional Linx was established in 2021, after parent company, UGL Limited was selected to deliver operations and maintenance of rail infrastructure for the Country Regional Network (CRN). This network ensures the safe movement of people and goods throughout the regions of NSW, and links Sydney with many important regional centres. UGL Regional Linx commenced operations on January 30 2022 and works on behalf of the client, Transport for NSW (TfNSW) and will be responsible for managing an important network of assets. As part of its operation, UGL Regional Linx’s scope of work includes: • Network operations • Rail infrastructure maintenance and implementation of a new train control system - UGL’s proprietary system, Sigview. • Asset and property management, and • Safety, access, performance, and environmental management. UGL Regional Linx has made a strong commitment to local and indigenous employment, further strengthening the organisation’s commitment to regional NSW. As part of its operations, UGL Regional Linx established its head office and Network Control Centre in the heart of the Central West, Orange, NSW. The CRN network includes: • 2,386 route kilometres of operational passenger and freight rail lines, including 996 km of branch line track used predominantly for haulage of grain, with lower mass and speed limits than other parts of the network • 3,139 route kilometres of non-operational lines • 27,000 hectares of land and infrastructure • 1,312 level crossings (300 active) • 1,200 property assets (including 356 heritage sites) • 600 rail under bridges and 384 road overbridges The CRN is a crucial piece of infrastructure to regional NSW and UGL Regional Linx is committed to ensure that it delivers for all customers, from rail passengers to farmers and industry.
About the Role

We are currently seeking a OHLE Project Engineer to join the Logan Gold Coast Faster Rail (LGCFR) Project, a transformative rail infrastructure program that will redefine passenger rail travel between Brisbane and the Gold Coast.

Delivered by the ActivUs Alliance, this landmark project will expand the rail corridor from two to four tracks between Kuraby and Beenleigh, while delivering major station upgrades, enhanced signalling systems and improved network capacity for South East Queensland.

The Opportunity

This role is responsible for supporting the design, coordination, and delivery or overhead line equipment works to ensure they meet technical, safety, and project requirements. The role provides engineering support across design development, construction, and commissioning stages, helping to resolve technical issues and ensure OHLE works are delivered on time, to quality standards, and in accordance with rail safety obligations.

Key responsibilities

  • Assist with reviewing OHLE design drawings, models and technical specs.

  • Prepare and update OHLE documentation, such as work packs and technical queries.

  • Coordinate with design teams, site engineers and contractors on engineering requirements.

  • Attend daily site or project coordination meetings.

  • Monitor OHLE construction activities to ensure compliance with standards and drawings.

  • Conduct site inspections to check quality, clearances, foundations, and mast/structure placements.

  • Assist with reviewing safe work procedures and construction methodologies.

  • Respond to RFIs and escalate complex issues to senior engineers.

  • Support energisation readiness, testing and commissioning planning.

  • Managing subcontractors and suppliers work

  • Managing the verification of conformance for works under control

  • Managing temporary works design and ensuring all relevant approvals are obtained

  • Managing short term programme (up to 2 months) with a competent understanding of the status, scope and dependencies of activities within a 2 month window.

  • Undertake monthly forecasting exercise including accruals, quantity take-offs, forecasting and reporting to ensure the projects financial position is understood and risks are clearly articulated to the Construction Manager.

About You

  • A minimum of 4 years OHLE project engineering experience

  • A bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline from a recognised tertiary institution.

  • Relevant Rail Industry Worker competencies

  • Experience applying engineering principles to comply with Project Specific Technical Requirements (PSTR)

  • Demonstrated commercial experience to include planning up to 4 weeks ahead and weekly reporting against cost and time

  • Development of SHEQ process and procedures and management of others in conducting SHEQ process and procedures
