About the Role

Front Porch Café – Barista/Server

About the Role:

The Barista/Server is an important part of the Front Porch Café team, responsible for creating a warm, welcoming, and enjoyable experience for every guest. This position combines quality coffee and beverage preparation with attentive counter and table service. The Barista/Server takes orders, serves food and beverages, prepares coffee and espresso drinks, maintains a clean and inviting café, and works closely with the team to ensure smooth daily operations.

The ideal candidate is friendly, attentive, service-oriented, and comfortable moving between barista, serving, and general café responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.

What You’ll Do:

  • Welcome guests warmly, take orders, and provide knowledgeable, attentive, and personalized service.
  • Provide counter and table service, including delivering food and beverages, checking on guests, clearing tables, and responding to guest needs.
  • Anticipate guest needs and address questions or routine concerns professionally and promptly.
  • Prepare and serve coffee, espresso beverages, teas, food, and other menu items consistently and according to Front Porch Café standards.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of coffee, espresso preparation, beverage recipes, food offerings, and café service procedures.
  • Accurately enter orders into the point-of-sale system and responsibly handle cash, credit card transactions, and other forms of payment.
  • Ensure orders are accurate, complete, and presented appropriately before being served to guests.
  • Maintain awareness of dining and service areas throughout the shift and respond promptly to guest needs.
  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, cash-handling, opening and closing, and workplace safety procedures.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and well-stocked service areas, including the café, bar, tables, dining areas, restrooms, dishes, floors, counters, trash and recycling, and storage areas.
  • Assist with restocking, inventory, receiving deliveries, dishwashing, cleaning, and other café operations as needed.
  • Work collaboratively with the team to maintain high standards of hospitality, service, quality, cleanliness, organization, and efficiency.
  • Support opening and closing responsibilities and ensure the café is prepared for the next shift.
  • Contribute to a positive, respectful, and welcoming environment for guests and coworkers.

What We’re Looking For:

  • 1–2 years of café, barista, restaurant, or customer service experience preferred.
  • Prior serving or table-service experience is a plus.
  • Current Food Handler Certification preferred, or the ability to obtain certification within a specified timeframe.

Qualifications:

  • Dependable, punctual, and committed to consistent attendance.
  • Available to work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Friendly, approachable, and genuinely passionate about providing excellent guest service.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Comfortable interacting with a variety of guests and providing attentive, hospitality-focused service.
  • Able to learn and consistently follow recipes, preparation methods, menu standards, service expectations, and café procedures.
  • Able to accurately manage multiple orders, guests, and priorities during a busy shift.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a positive, professional attitude.
  • Strong attention to accuracy, cleanliness, organization, presentation, and detail.
  • Able to work independently while also contributing effectively as part of a team.
  • Willingness to assist wherever needed to support guests and daily café operations.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout a shift.
  • Ability to frequently reach, bend, stoop, lift, carry, and perform repetitive hand and wrist movements.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to safely transport food, beverages, dishes, and supplies throughout the café.
  • Ability to work safely and effectively in a fast-paced café and service environment.

Compensation & Benefits

  • $20.25–$22.00 per hour, depending on experience.
