Position Summary
The Marketing & Communications Coordinator serves as the chapter’s marketing and storytelling representative for the San Antonio and South Texas market, supporting content creation, media engagement, social media execution and event coverage while expanding the chapter’s visibility and storytelling capacity across Central & South Texas. This role is critical to building local brand visibility, community engagement, and donor loyalty across the diverse and growing communities of San Antonio and the broader South Texas region. The ideal candidate will be both creative and analytical, blending compelling storytelling with data-informed decision-making to drive awareness, wish referrals, and donor retention.
Position Responsibilities
- Support the development team in creating impactful development materials and storytelling.
- Write accurate, emotionally resonant stories that drive community understanding of the impact of a wish.
- Assist with managing the chapter's social media accounts and websites, creating draft content including photos, videos, reels and stories.
- Support the fulfillment of marketing deliverables for corporate partners, including National Alliance partners, ensuring appropriate stewardship of relationships.
- Identify and gather wish stories, photos, and video content and support development of written and digital storytelling.
- Assist with print and electronic communications supporting events, fundraising and mission-related projects.
- Support digital execution across email, website, and social channels.
- Conduct interviews with wish families, volunteers, sponsors, and staff for storytelling purposes.
- Take photos and short-form videos for social media and donor stewardship.
- Attend wish celebrations, volunteer, community and fundraising events to capture content.
- Help build strategic partnerships with local media outlets, influencers, creative agencies, and community organizations particularly in San Antonio and surrounding areas.
- Coordinate logistics for media opportunities in San Antonio and South Texas area.
Administrative
- Assist with brand compliance by ensuring proper use of Make-A-Wish marks and adherence to national identity standards.
- Maintain the photo and story library to ensure accessibility for future marketing and promotional needs.
- Assist with regularly updating chapter website and event microsites with accurate information and a strong user experience.
- Adhere to all Make-A-Wish America performance standards and Chapter internal controls, policies, and procedures.

Requirements
Position Qualifications and Requirements
- 2+ years of professional work experience in communications and marketing, with a track record of improving engagement and brand outcomes.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in communications, marketing, graphic design, or related field.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Acrobat Pro), email marketing platforms, and/or tools such as Canva or video editing software.
- Ability to write and edit compelling stories across platforms with emotional clarity and cultural relevance.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively across the organization in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong project management skills, detail-oriented, and organized.
- High level of discretion to sensitive constituent information and ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Flexibility to attend occasional early morning, evening, and weekend events.
- Must have reliable mode of transportation to travel across the chapter territory when needed, including Austin, San Antonio, and surrounding communities. Position requires travel throughout the chapter territory and flexible hours.
- Proficiency in all Microsoft computer programs, including Outlook, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- A passion for the mission of Make-A-Wish Central & South Texas.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
