CNC Set Up Machinist

Description

 We are seeking an experienced CNC Set-Up Machinist with strong knowledge of Citizen Swiss-style CNC lathes. This hands-on role is responsible for machine set-ups, tooling, troubleshooting, process improvements, and supporting production to ensure quality parts are manufactured efficiently and on schedule.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Perform complete set-ups on Citizen Swiss CNC machines.
• Install and align tooling, guide bushings, and bar feeders.
• Load and verify CNC programs and make necessary offsets and adjustments.
• Read and interpret blueprints, GD&T, process sheets, and work instructions.
• Troubleshoot machining, tooling, and quality issues to minimize downtime.
• Monitor production runs and optimize cycle times and tool life.
• Perform in-process inspections using micrometers, calipers, indicators, optical comparators, and other precision measuring equipment.
• Work closely with programmers, quality personnel, and production supervisors.
• Maintain accurate production and quality documentation.
• Train and assist machine operators as needed.
• Follow all safety, quality, and housekeeping requirements.

Requirements

Qualifications

• 10 years of experience setting up Swiss-style CNC lathes.
• Medical, aerospace, defense, or high-precision manufacturing experience
• Direct experience with Citizen Swiss machines required.
• Strong understanding of machining principles, tooling, speeds, feeds, and cutting parameters.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Proficient with precision measuring instruments.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
