About the Role

Description

THE POSITION

Under the direction of the General Manager - Laredo Office, the Mexico Carrier Procurement Representative is responsible for securing reliable, cost-effective capacity for Truckload orders throughout the United States and Mexico, providing market-based pricing guidance, and building strong carrier partnerships. This role uses carrier analytics, market intelligence, technology, and effective negotiation to make informed buying decisions while delivering exceptional service to carriers and internal customers.


ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop, maintain, and grow strong relationships with U.S. and Mexico carriers to effectively support customer transportation needs.
  • Secure capacity for Truckload shipments in assigned regions and assist with overflow, PTO coverage, and other challenged shipments.
  • Conduct daily carrier outreach through inbound and outbound calls, load postings, lead generation, and relationship development.
  • Negotiate transportation rates with confidence and sound judgment, balancing service, capacity, market conditions, and cost.
  • Provide timely, accurate rate feedback and market intelligence to Mexico Truckload Account Managers to support customer pricing decisions.
  • Send and receive rate confirmations and ensure shipment documentation is accurate and complete.
  • Provide BOL, ETA, tracking, and tracing information throughout the life of the order as required by customers and internal teams.
  • Conduct consistent lane research, study market trends and seasonality, and document relevant information in the MCL Tool or future replacement platform.
  • Use carrier analytics, internal resources, and transportation technology to make informed buying decisions and increase automation in the carrier procurement process.
  • Maintain and grow carrier accounts through regular communication, account reviews, active listening, and identification of opportunities for additional collaboration.
  • Research and qualify new carriers in the marketplace, generate leads, develop new relationships, and assist with carrier onboarding.
  • Anticipate and resolve service issues by identifying root causes, thinking critically, communicating proactively, and implementing effective solutions with a sense of urgency.
  • Provide consistent, exceptional service to contracted carriers and internal customers while managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Assist with the claims process by collecting required documentation and relaying accurate information to Evans' Claims Department.
  • Demonstrate resilience, flexibility, professionalism, honesty, and a competitive mindset while building trust and maintaining strong relationships.
  • Communicate clearly and persuasively in both English and Spanish, using strong emotional intelligence and sound judgment in negotiations and day-to-day interactions.

Requirements

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

Education: Bachelor's degree preferred.

Experience / Training: Related transportation, logistics, carrier procurement, or brokerage experience; experience working with Mexican carriers strongly preferred.

Licenses / Certifications: No specific license or certification required.

Technology / Equipment: Experience with transportation management systems and Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Outlook; ability and willingness to learn new software and technology platforms.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

Education: Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain, logistics, transportation, or a related field.

Experience / Training: Cross-border carrier procurement experience and established knowledge of U.S. and Mexican carrier markets.

Licenses / Certifications: None required.

Technology / Equipment: Advanced Excel skills and experience using carrier analytics, load boards, transportation management systems, and automated procurement tools.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS
