Sr Network Field Engineer

As a Senior Network Field Engineer at Hertz, you'll lead the delivery of reliable, secure, and scalable network solutions across global field locations while supporting corporate and cloud network environments. Your day will blend hands-on network operations, troubleshooting, and performance optimization with leading infrastructure projects that modernize and enhance the company's technology landscape. Working closely with cross-functional teams and guided by Enterprise Architecture standards, you'll evaluate, implement, and support networking technologies that drive business value, improve service reliability, and minimize disruptions. What You’ll Do:
- Lead operational support for the global Hertz field network, providing Tier III troubleshooting, partnering with the NOC on critical issues, contributing to root cause analysis, and ensuring support coverage for network infrastructure.
- Design and deliver LAN, WAN, and wireless network solutions for field projects, including site-specific implementation, configuration of network hardware and software, IP address management, and maintenance of standards-based documentation.
- Serve as the technical lead for network initiatives, partnering with cross-functional teams to deliver projects on time and ensure solutions align with enterprise architecture, security, performance, and availability standards.
- Drive network security and resilience by implementing, monitoring, and improving controls to identify and remediate vulnerabilities.
- Monitor network performance, capacity, and reliability to meet business requirements while ensuring compliance with corporate standards, regulatory requirements, and service level commitments.
- Communicate project status and technical recommendations to stakeholders, mentor team members, support professional development initiatives, and contribute to technology roadmaps and infrastructure modernization strategies.
What We’re Looking For:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
5+ years of experience designing, implementing, supporting, and optimizing enterprise network solutions within large-scale, distributed, branch, retail, or campus environments.
Strong expertise in LAN, WAN, SD-WAN, wireless networking, routing, switching, TCP/IP, network architecture, and enterprise infrastructure design.
Experience managing and supporting secure on-premises and cloud-based network environments, including Azure and/or AWS, with a solid understanding of network security principles such as firewalls, segmentation, secure remote access, vulnerability management, and Zero Trust architectures.
Hands-on experience with network automation, Infrastructure-as-Code, and network management platforms, including tools such as Python, Ansible, Terraform, DNS, DHCP, IPAM, monitoring, and observability solutions.
Advanced wireless networking experience, including design, deployment, optimization, and troubleshooting in enterprise environments.
Experience with Fortinet networking and security solutions, including FortiGate, FortiSwitch, FortiAP, FortiManager, FortiAnalyzer, and SD-WAN technologies.
Proven experience leading infrastructure refreshes, modernization initiatives, lifecycle management programs, and vendor relationships while working within ITIL and Agile delivery frameworks.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions, influence technology decisions, and build effective partnerships across global teams, vendors, and stakeholders.
Demonstrated technical leadership, organizational skills, customer-service focus, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Industry certifications: CCNP, Fortinet FCP, or equivalent industry certification preferred.
The starting salary is $120,000 and commensurate with experience.
