About The Company
Galaxy is a newly formed coalition of commercial door, automatic gate, and access control companies focused on maintenance, service and installation. Galaxy does not operate like a traditional private equity firm or a large competitor, but rather as an alliance of like-minded owner operators driven by the vision of building a leading network of premier service providers across the United States.
About the Role

Door Technician – Commercial Doors | Northern VA area

Sylvester's Dock & Door is a fast-growing, privately owned dock equipment and commercial door service company with 15+ years of operation. We recently expanded to the Washington, DC metro area and are growing our team of skilled commercial door technicians to serve customers throughout Northern Virginia, Maryland, and the DC area.

We service a wide range of commercial customers — warehouses, distribution centers, government facilities, car dealerships, apartment complexes, cold storage facilities, and more — and we're looking for an experienced commercial door technician who takes pride in quality work and reliable service.

What You'll Do

As a Door Technician, you will independently manage a daily route of service calls, installations, and preventive maintenance for commercial customers throughout the DC metro area. Responsibilities include:

  • Install, service, troubleshoot, and repair commercial overhead doors, sectional doors, high-speed doors, rolling steel doors, and fire doors
  • Service and repair dock equipment including dock levelers, dock seals and shelters, dock bumpers, and restraints
  • Install, adjust, and repair commercial door operators, access control systems, gate operators, and related hardware
  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues with door systems and operator components
  • Complete digital work orders via company-issued phone and tablet
  • Maintain a clean, organized company service vehicle and tool inventory
  • Communicate professionally with commercial facility managers, maintenance directors, and warehouse personnel
  • Adhere to all OSHA safety standards and company safety protocols

What We're Looking For

  • 1–3+ years of hands-on commercial door experience required — overhead doors, sectional doors, high-speed doors, dock equipment, or related field
  • Experience with brands such as Rytec, Assa Abloy, Overhead Door, Amarr, Clopay, LiftMaster, Chamberlain, BEA, or similar preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams and perform basic electrical troubleshooting
  • Strong mechanical aptitude — experience with springs, cables, tracks, and hardware adjustment
  • Valid driver's license with clean MVR required — must be comfortable navigating the DC/NoVA/Maryland market
  • Ability to work independently, manage a route, and communicate with customers
  • Comfortable working at heights, in varying weather conditions, and in industrial/warehouse environments
  • IDEA or DHI certification a plus but not required

What You'll Get

  • Competitive hourly pay based on experience
  • Company-provided service truck with paid gas, tolls, washes, and maintenance
  • Company-issued phone and tablet
  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage — Sylvester's covers most of the premium; coverage starts the first of the month after 30 days of employment
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Paid major holidays
  • Vacation and sick time (pro-rated)
  • Monday–Friday daytime hours with overtime opportunity
  • A stable, growing company where technicians are valued and supported
