About the Role

POSITION SUMMARY: 
NMDP is looking for a Payroll Analyst to join our team! This position is responsible for supporting NMDP’s accurate, timely, and compliant biweekly multi-state payroll processing. The Payroll Analyst reviews and analyzes payroll data, provides responsive employee support by answering payroll questions and following up on inquiries, resolves payroll discrepancies, supports payroll reporting and reconciliations, maintains payroll records, assists with payroll tax activities, participates in payroll system testing, and works within Human Resources while collaborating with Benefits, Finance, and other stakeholders to ensure payroll requirements are met. Experience with Oracle Time and Labor and ADP Workforce Now payroll systems is required.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:  
Payroll processing and compliance:
•    Process, audit, and reconcile payroll data to ensure employees are paid accurately and on schedule.
•    Review timekeeping, earnings, deductions, payroll taxes, garnishments, direct deposits, and other payroll-related transactions for accuracy and compliance.
•    Process and maintain employee garnishment orders, including wage garnishments, child support, tax levies, and other court- or agency-ordered deductions in accordance with applicable requirements.
•    Research, analyze, and resolve payroll discrepancies, employee inquiries, and system-related issues in a timely and professional manner, including appropriate follow-up to ensure questions are fully addressed.
•    Prepare payroll reports, reconciliations, and data analysis to support audits, compliance requirements, Finance reporting, and leadership decision-making.
•    Maintain accurate payroll records and support year-end activities, including W-2 review, payroll tax reconciliation, tax form review, and related reporting.
•    Collaborate with Benefits, Finance, Human Resources leadership, and other stakeholders to ensure payroll changes are accurate, complete, and aligned with company policies.
•    Monitor payroll processes for efficiency, recommend improvements, and support system updates, user acceptance testing, regression testing, testing documentation, and process documentation.
•    Support multi-state payroll activities by reviewing state-specific payroll requirements, taxes, deductions, and compliance considerations.
•    Stay informed of applicable federal, state, and local payroll laws, regulations, and best practices.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 
Knowledge of: 
•    Payroll processing, multi-state payroll requirements, payroll tax, wage and hour requirements, deductions, garnishment processing, quarter-end and year-end payroll activities, compliance practices, and payroll reporting.
Ability to: 
•    Produce accurate and timely payroll work, analyze and resolve payroll discrepancies, maintain confidentiality, communicate effectively with employees and cross-functional partners, manage multiple priorities, identify process improvement opportunities, and support system testing and validation.
Systems Experiences:
•    Required experience with Oracle Time and Labor and ADP Workforce Now; proficiency with Microsoft Excel and HCM, payroll, or timekeeping systems.
Education and/or Experience: 
•    Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
•    5+ years of payroll and tax experience required, including demonstrated hands-on experience with multi-state payroll processing, payroll tax activities, tax filing, tax auditing, and payroll compliance.
•    Experience supporting payroll audits, quarter-end and year-end payroll activities, or process improvement initiatives. 
•    Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC), can be active or inactive


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: (Additional qualifications that may make a person even more effective in the role, but are not required for consideration) 
•    Experience supporting payroll system testing, including user acceptance testing, regression testing, test case execution, defect tracking, and validation of payroll results.
•    Experience supporting payroll-related benefits administration, benefit deductions, or benefit-related payroll adjustments.
•    Active Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC)
