GENERAL POSITION DESCRIPTION:
- Perform a variety of routine clerical, accounting and administrative work in executing the duties of the County Treasurer’s office.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform all duties associated with helping the public.
- Read and remain current of legal statutes and procedures.
- The primary location of employment for this position is the designated Delta County office with the exception of required duties that are to be performed off site as necessary. The employee is required to perform the majority (generally, at least 95%) of assigned duties from this designated office location to allow for client, customer and coworker access and collaboration, unless prior written approval for an alternative arrangement, such as temporary remote work, has been granted by the employee's direct supervisor and/or department head and maintained in the employee personnel file.
- Reliable and predictable attendance and punctuality are considered essential functions of this job. Employees are expected to be at their work area and ready to work at the scheduled start time to ensure consistent service delivery and operational efficiency.
GENERAL JOB DUTIES:
- Receive and process tax payments made with cash, check or credit card.
- Assist in preparation of tax sale list and in operation of tax lien sale.
- Issue and post Mobile Home Authentications certifying appropriate taxes are paid.
- Issue Mobile Home Moving Permits.
- Research back taxes as needed.
- Answer phone.
- Issue Certificates of Taxes Due & sign when necessary.
- Receive and receipt all money deposits made to the County.
- Post daily bank activity.
- Balance books daily and make bank deposits daily.
- Combine daily and monthly computer tax payments by operator for bookkeeping.
- Process back tax redemption on tax liens.
- Post all appropriate tax information to the tax roll.
- Provide public with tax information and other general information.
- Work well with others in a cooperative atmosphere showing respect and support.
- Cross train with Public Trustee Department.
- All Delta County employees may be called upon to support emergency response, natural disasters, or other recovery efforts. In the event of a declared disaster or an undeclared emergency requiring immediate support, employees may be temporarily designated as essential service workers and asked to adjust their scheduled work hours (which may include hours outside normal business hours) to accommodate response needs and county business as directed by their Department Head, Elected Official, or the Board of County Commissioners.
- Perform other similar and related duties as assigned.
Requirements
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience:
Two (2) years of experience dealing with the public in an office setting. Basic knowledge of accounting and some knowledge of property ownership and transfer helpful.
Combination of education and experience could waive specific requirement.
Licenses/Certifications:
A current, valid and unrestricted Colorado Driver’s License is required.

Physical Requirements: Walk, stand, sit, type, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects or tools, reach with
hands and arms, talk, listen, hear, read, see, lift.

Exposure to Elements: Normal office conditions
Handling of Dangerous Equipment: None
Risk of Assault or Injury: Verbal assault on the telephone or in person is not uncommon.
