Operational & Administrative Leadership

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the local hospice office, ensuring efficient administrative functions and effective delivery of hospice services.
  • Establish, implement, and evaluate operational goals and objectives in alignment with organizational standards and the Infinity Hospice Care mission.
  • Prepare required reports, attend daily stand-up and accounts receivable (A/R) meetings, and maintain regular attendance.
  • Promote effective communication and collaboration across all hospice disciplines to support organizational goals and continuity of care.

Clinical Oversight & Quality Assurance

  • Ensure high-quality, patient-centered hospice care in compliance with Medicare Conditions of Participation, state regulations, and applicable standards of care.
  • Oversee the assessment, evaluation, intervention, and documentation of patient and family needs while ensuring adequate staffing and resources.
  • Maintain survey readiness and regulatory compliance, including Medicare and state requirements.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of the hospice-wide Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement (QAPI) program, utilizing data to identify trends and improvement opportunities in collaboration with the Chief Compliance Officer.
  • Maintain communication with hospice physicians regarding visit schedules, patient certifications and recertifications, and clinical oversight.

Financial & Resource Management

  • Oversee financial operations, cost controls, and adherence to organizational budgets and accounting policies.
  • Manage expenditures responsibly, maintaining staffing, medications, durable medical equipment (DME), supplies, and mileage within budget.
  • Review and approve patient care-related invoices, expense reports, and other operational expenditures while identifying opportunities to improve efficiency.

Staffing, Supervision & Development

  • Oversee recruitment, hiring, supervision, counseling, performance evaluations, and professional development of clinical, administrative, and clerical personnel, directly or through Assistant Directors of Nursing (ADONs).
  • Ensure appropriate staffing levels, employee orientation, discipline-specific training, and ongoing education to support quality care and operational effectiveness.
  • Foster accountability, teamwork, effective communication, and a positive working environment.

Communication & Community Relations

  • Maintain effective communication with hospice staff regarding organizational updates, clinical matters, and operational priorities.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with referral sources, hospice physicians, contracted facilities, and community partners through regular communication and facility visits.
  • Participate in agency and community programs as requested to promote professional growth and understanding of hospice care.
  • Support the Infinity Hospice Care mission by promoting a professional, collaborative, and engaging workplace culture.

On-Call & Additional Responsibilities

  • Serve as Administrator On-Call, providing 24-hour administrative availability according to the established schedule.
  • Participate in evening and weekend clinical on-call coverage as required.
  • Travel as necessary and fulfill additional responsibilities as assigned.
  • Conduct all business activities professionally, ethically, and in accordance with organizational policies and procedures.

Special Experience Needed


The Director of Patient Care Services is a key member of the senior management team, responsible for ensuring the appropriate delivery of patient care services and compliance with Medicare Hospice Conditions of Participation, applicable state hospice regulations, and the Infinity Hospice Care operating model.

This position provides leadership and oversight in quality care and service delivery, staffing, operational performance, census growth, and cost management. The Director of Patient Care Services reports directly to the Executive Director.


Qualifications & Requirements

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of the program’s licensure preferred.
  • Prior healthcare management or clinical leadership experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, supervise, and support professional clinical and administrative personnel.
  • Knowledge of business and financial management principles, including budgeting, staffing, census management, and cost control.
  • In-depth understanding of the Medicare Hospice Benefit, applicable regulations, and reimbursement requirements.
  • Thorough knowledge of hospice care delivery and interdisciplinary services provided to patients, families, and caregivers.
  • Understanding of reimbursement, claims, and appeals processes.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with proficiency in relevant computer applications and electronic documentation systems.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within an interdisciplinary team and promote a patient-centered approach to care.
  • Self-directed with the ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and manage competing priorities.
  • Flexible, cooperative, and responsive in fulfilling position responsibilities.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation, insured in accordance with state regulations and Infinity Hospice Care requirements.
  • Satisfactory professional references from previous employers and/or professional peers.
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check.
