As a Deckhand, you’ll play an important role in the safe and seamless operation of our vessels, working alongside the Vessel Master to deliver exceptional guest experiences on the water. From ensuring our vessels are presented to the highest standard to helping create a safe, comfortable and enjoyable journey for every guest, no two days will be the same.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Deliver an exceptional guest experience by warmly welcoming guests, assisting with embarkation and disembarkation, conducting safety briefings and providing professional host/hostess support as required.
Support the Vessel Master with the safe and efficient operation of Hayman vessels, including deck activities, mooring, departure preparation, lookout and bridge management duties.
Maintain safety and compliance by participating in emergency procedures, evacuations, safety drills and inspections, while reporting any safety equipment deficiencies to the Master.
Maintain the vessel to the highest standard by assisting with deck and exterior maintenance, ensuring the vessel is presented professionally and supporting safe navigation, particularly in adverse conditions.
Base rate $32.42 + penalties + loading

To be successful in this role, you’ll have:
Valid coxswain G3 ticket or higher
Communication skills - guests will need to come to you with concerns as well as compliments, so you’ll be easy to talk to
Your problem-solving skills will turn issues into opportunities so every guest leaves with great memories
Elements of Shipboard Safety
Marine Radio Operations Certificate (preferred)
Current Advanced First Aid Certificate
QLD RSA - QLD Responsible Service of Alcohol Certificate
Able to travel on boats without sea sickness
Experience - ideally you’ll have spent at least one year in a similar position
