Looking to lead, grow, and shape the future of cultural resources work in Northern California? HELIX Environmental Planning is seeking an experienced Cultural Resources Group Manager to join our leadership team and drive strategic growth, client relationships, and technical excellence across our Northern California Cultural Resources practice. This is a unique opportunity for a seasoned Cultural Resources Group Manager to make a significant impact while working alongside a highly collaborative and respected multidisciplinary team.

Day in the Life

As a Cultural Resources Group Manager, your days will be dynamic and rewarding. One day, you may be collaborating with senior leaders to develop growth strategies and pursue new opportunities. The next, you'll be mentoring staff, strengthening client relationships, overseeing major cultural resources projects, and ensuring technical excellence across deliverables. You'll play a critical role in expanding HELIX's Northern California cultural resources presence while fostering a positive, high-performing team culture.


What You'll Do

  • Lead and grow HELIX's Northern California Cultural Resources Group.
  • Develop and implement business plans with regional leadership.
  • Drive business development and marketing efforts throughout Sacramento and Northern California.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships and generate new opportunities.
  • Manage large projects and on-call contracts.
  • Recruit, mentor, and lead cultural resources staff.
  • Oversee group financial performance and operational success.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams across the company.
  • Provide quality assurance and technical review of cultural resources work products.
  • Foster a collaborative, professional, and positive team environment.

Salary will be based on qualifications and/or experience, with a robust benefits package. Expected starting pay range of $140,000 to $170,000.

Requirements

Minimum Requirements

  • Master's degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, History, or a closely related field with a concentration in Archaeology.
  • Registered Professional Archaeologist (RPA).
  • Minimum 15 years of archaeological experience, including experience managing cultural resources teams.
  • Proven experience preparing proposals, archaeological studies, and technical reports.
  • Demonstrated success in business development and client relationship management within California.
  • Strong knowledge of CEQA, NEPA, NHPA Section 106, and cultural resource management regulations.
  • Experience with Northern California prehistoric and historic archaeology.
  • Experience preparing Phase I, II, and III archaeological surveys and documentation.
  • Experience coordinating with Tribal representatives and building positive Tribal relationships.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
