Position: Marketing, Communications & Media Manager
General Description: The Marketing, Communications, & Media Manager designs and executes HRH's multi-channel communication strategy across websites, social media, search engines, and printed materials. This role ensures all public-facing content is accurate, timely, and aligned with the organizational brand. A central focus is gathering and producing impact stories to drive digital engagement, build a loyal social media following, and directly support fundraising and community initiatives.
Principal Duties:
General
- Support in the preparation and distribution of org-wide communications materials, including the annual report and other impact reporting.
- Work with Fundraising and Events Coordinator, Director of RD to develop strategies to increase community and industry awareness of the organization and its mission through the development and implementation of a communications plan that will guide paid and non-paid media.
Content Creation & Brand Strategy
- Omnichannel Management: Create, curate, and manage high-quality content for the website, social media networks, search engine campaigns, and printed collateral.
- Brand Stewardship: Ensure all public-facing materials maintain a consistent, accurate, and professional organizational voice.
- Impact Storytelling: Gather, write, and produce compelling impact stories that highlight the core mission of HRH to increase community interest and engagement.
Collaboration & Cross-Functional Support
- Fundraising Alignment: Partner closely with the Fundraising and Events Manager to leverage impact stories for donor engagement, campaign assets, and fundraising initiatives.
- Community Engagement: Coordinate with the Community Development Manager to build narratives that support local outreach and foster deep public connection.
- Executive Strategy: Collaborate directly with the Director of Resource Development and Communications to build overarching strategic plans and streamline both internal and external organizational communications.
Analytics, Insights & Market Research
- Data Monitoring: Track, monitor, and analyze website traffic, social media metrics, and overall campaign analytics.
- Strategic Optimization: Use key performance metrics to evaluate what drives engagement and adapt marketing strategies based on data insights.
- Market Analysis: Conduct regular market research to analyze industry trends, competitor/peer behavior, and target audience demographics to uncover new growth opportunities.
Media Marketing
- Newsletter: Prepare and send a monthly newsletter highlighting program successes, upcoming events, and ways to get involved.
Social Media
- Lead the creation of impactful digital content that aligns with HRH’s brand guidelines
- Promotes resource development goals.
- Create and manage social media calendars and front-facing content for campaigns, donor spotlights, and organizational storytelling.
- Develop & implement a Monthly Content Calendar with themes: Impact Stories, Program Spotlights, Advocacy or Policy Update, Donor or Partner Recognition.
- Serve as point of contact for inquires that come through our social media.
- Work collaboratively with Fundraising and Events Manager to promote Fundraising campaigns on social media, print materials, email, and website.
Website
- Oversee website development activities including regular updating and general monitoring of content.
- Ensure website information is always up to date
- Serve as point of contact for inquires that come through our website
- Update website content as needed.
Photography/Videography
- Lead internal interview projects to gather compelling success stories and testimonials that can be used in donor outreach and sponsorship proposals.
- Generate five success stories, including photo/video content, and story narrative, on a quarterly basis, ensuring all client and staff consent information is collected and filed.
- Function as in-house agency photographer, being present at agency events, donation drives/check acceptances, fundraising events, and more for the purpose of taking pictures that support HRH’s mission and values.
Print Marketing Materials
- Lead the creation of impactful print content that aligns with HRH’s brand guidelines and promotes resource development goals, including but not limited to program and agency brochures, outreach materials, flyers/posters, poster boards, etc.
- Proactively communicate with Program managers and staff to create marketing materials for programs and events as needed
- Update materials as needed/requested.
Event Coordination & Community Engagement
- Assist Fundraising and Events Manager with logistical support and coordination for Hudson River Housing’s annual fundraising events, including planning, promotion, and execution.
- Assist, when needed, with attending other fundraising, community, and outreach events to support HRH’s resource development goals and community engagement initiatives.
Collaboration & Team Support
- Attend cross-departmental meetings determined by the Director to stay updated on current happenings of the agency and make recommendations if necessary.
- Utilize task tracking tools to meet deadlines and articulate progress of other on-going projects.
- Assist with other HRH and Department projects assigned.
- Attend regularly scheduled meetings with supervisor and RD Team
- Proactively communicate about prospective issues meeting deadlines, roadblocks when working on projects, etc. to avoid late submissions/miscommunication
- Foster positive working relationships with HRH staff, attend meetings, visit sites, and participate in agency staff events.
- Seek out opportunities to enhance job related learning and complete required training.
- Provide Support to Director with departmental strategy and vision planning.
Experience
One to two years of social media management, graphic design, and/or marketing experience is required. Resource development experience related to grants and fundraising is a plus.
Education
BA/BS required or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. BA/BFA in marketing, communications, or design, or equivalent combination of education, training, and demonstrated experience relevant to this position.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in various social media platforms including Facebook and Instagram. Twitter and Tik-Tok. Proficiency with design and editing tools, including Canva, Adobe Illustrator, and Adobe Photoshop. Video editing software (Premiere Pro or Final Cut) are a bonus!
Licensing/Certification Requirements:
Valid driver’s license.

- Superior writing and organizational skills, high diligence, and strong written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated foresight, initiative-taking planning, a high degree of flexibility, and the ability to multitask effectively under deadlines. Ability to work both independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively as a vital member of a team. Highly flexible, with a strong willingness to learn new concepts and an openness to constructive feedback. Proficiency with website content management systems (CMS), social media analytics tools, SEO/SEM strategies, and print production workflows. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (especially Word and Excel). Basic math skills for tracking metrics, budgets, and analytics data.
Schedule & Work Environment
- Hours: Generally, Monday through Friday, 8:30 am – 4:30 pm.
- Flexibility: Occasional after-hours or weekend work required to meet critical project deadlines and support event needs.
- Location: Primarily on-site, with the opportunity to occasionally work remotely with permission from the supervisor.
