About Us

Ponderosa Solutions provides rail-adjacent operations, running transloaders and boilers at customer sites and terminals across Oklahoma, Montana, Minnesota, Arizona, Illinois, and Rhode Island. We're a team of about 30 people who work safely around railcars and take pride in solving problems for our customers.

About the Role

We're looking for a hands-on Safety Manager to own and lead our safety program across terminals, transload facilities, rail operations, and new site startups. The role is about half field and half office. You'll also be our main contact for our third-party environmental consultant.

Responsibilities

  • Own and continuously improve all company safety programs
  • Establish and implement site-specific SOPs
  • Lead railroad and transload safety, including railcar securement, switching, Blue Signal Protection, and hazmat transfers
  • Conduct field inspections, audits, and hazard analyses, and lead safety for new site startups
  • Deliver onsite safety training and coach employees on safe work practices
  • Lead incident investigations and corrective actions
  • Manage OSHA, DOT/FMCSA, and hazmat compliance

Requirements

Requirements

  • 5+ years of hands-on safety experience in rail, transload, terminal, oil and gas, or similar high-hazard operations
  • Working knowledge of OSHA, DOT/FMCSA, and hazmat regulations
  • Ability to travel about 50%, including overnight
  • Valid driver's license and OSHA 30-Hour (or ability to obtain it)

Preferred: FRA knowledge, experience working with environmental consultants, a safety-related degree, or certifications such as CSP, ASP, or HAZWOPER.
