Supervisor: Snowmaking Supervisor
Type: November-Spring, Varying Hours
Department: Snowmaking / Grooming / Slope Maintenance Seasonal
Position Overview: Create manmade snow to maintain and enhance ski slopes, operate and maintain snowmaking equipment, and ensure optimal snow conditions.
Supervisory Responsibilities: None.
Essential Job Functions:
- Operate SMI automated system and monitoring.
- Operate snowmaking equipment to create quality manmade snow and perform light maintenance and repairs on equipment.
- Tend fan guns throughout shift keeping electric cords and hoses clear of snow.
- Check weather, air temperatures, and wind speeds constantly to optimize manmade snow quality.
- Pre-operational, operational, and post-operational check of snow making equipment, reposition, and move snowmaking equipment, clean off snow, and clean equipment.
- Relocation of guns and hoses to various areas around the Resort.
- Conduct regular maintenance checks on equipment, including checking water pipes, fluid levels and volume, temperature controls, energy consumption, and diesel fuel systems.
- Shovel / remove snow around snowmaking equipment and other areas as needed.
- Test the quality of snow as it is made, reporting findings and conditions to Supervisor.
- Record accurate information to all maintenance forms in an efficient and timely manner.
- Work safely in close proximity to heavy equipment, high voltage, and high-water pressure.
- Work unsupervised and be self motivated to complete tasks timely.
- Safe operation of snowmobiles in dark and potentially limited visibility conditions.
- Work together with all departments to build a positive working environment and open terrain safely.
- Physically perform the essential job functions of this position.
- Show up to work on time, consistent attendance, and dependable.
- Other duties as assigned.
Environmental Factors:
- Frequently exposed to high places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme cold; extreme heat; high voltage, high water, pressure, with ladders, and vibration.
- This position is required to work evenings and/or overnight, weekends and holidays.
- Constantly exposed to weather including extreme cold and heat and ability to work outside in any and all weather conditions.
- Constantly climbing, balancing, kneeling, carrying, walking, bending, crouching rotating, standing, walking and frequently working on uneven and steep terrain.
- Manual dexterity and fitness to work with hand tools constantly and repetitive use of hands, arms, shoulders, back, and legs constantly.
- Lifting to waist level of 50 lbs. frequently, above shoulder lifting and / or carrying of up to 25 lbs. occasionally, 80 lbs. rarely.
- Sight and hearing of acceptable standards for Essential Job Functions.
- The working environment may be stressful when meeting Supervisor and staffing needs.

Requirements
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Intermediate math skills and good mechanical skills / judgement.
- Ability to commit to on-site work schedule including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to operate, use, and control hand tools, drain hoses, and wrap electrical cords.
- Ability to work around high voltage and extreme water pressures.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to identify safety hazards and either direct the Supervisor’s attention to them or safely remove them.
- Ability to read and write English and be able to differentiate colors.
- Ability to relate in a positive manner to guests and co-workers.
- Ability to work well under pressure, problem solve, and multitask.
- Thorough understanding of company policies and practices.
- Organized and attention to detail.
- Reliable transportation.
Education / Experience:
- Must be 18 years of age
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Two years experience with SMI software.
- Three years experience with snowmaking.
- High voltage and water pressure training preferred but not required (will train in house).
- Snowmobile safety training is preferred but not required (will train in house).
- One year experience skiing or snowboarding required.
- Valid Washington State Driver License.
- Background check.
