Position Scope:


Responsible for driving Building Construction Products (BCP) sales through relentless prospecting, relationship building, and business development efforts. This role covers a product line that includes telehandlers, small dozers, small excavators, small to mid-size wheel loaders, and small asphalt rollers. The focus is on generating new opportunities, expanding market share, and growing revenue by consistently pursuing new customers and uncovering untapped sales opportunities. The ideal candidate is a highly motivated, competitive self-starter who thrives on the grind of cold calling, customer visits, networking, and closing deals. Success in this role requires a hunter mentality, a strong sense of urgency, and a passion for building a robust sales pipeline while managing online Building Construction Products inventory and website listings to maximize equipment visibility and sales performance.

Requirements

Knowledge and Skill Requirements

  • Strong prospecting, business development, and relationship-building skills.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation abilities.
  • Ability to identify customer needs and provide equipment solutions.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple sales opportunities.
  • Proficiency with CRM systems, Microsoft Office, and digital sales tools.
  • Ability to work independently and achieve sales objectives.
  • Understanding of construction equipment applications and customer operations.

Preferred Qualification(s)

  • Knowledge of compact construction equipment, heavy equipment, or related industry products.
  • Experience working with CRM systems and managing sales pipelines.
  • Professional sales training or certifications preferred.

Education Requirements


High school diploma or GED required.

Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred.


Leadership Responsibilities

  • Serve as a trusted advisor and primary point of contact for customers.
  • Promote a positive customer experience by collaborating with sales, rental, service, and parts teams.
  • Represent Coastal CAT professionally within the assigned territory and community.

Preferred Experience and Skills

  • Three (3) or more years of outside sales, business development, or construction equipment sales experience.
  • Proven track record of prospecting, developing new business, and achieving sales goals.
  • Experience selling construction equipment, rental equipment, or other capital equipment preferred.
  • Familiarity with contractor, utility, paving, landscaping, or municipal customers.

Essential Job Functions

  • Prospect and develop new customers through cold calling, networking, referrals, and customer visits.
  • Build and maintain long-term customer relationships to drive repeat business.
  • Identify sales opportunities and recommend equipment solutions that meet customer needs.
  • Manage sales opportunities from initial contact through closing.
  • Maintain accurate customer and opportunity data within the CRM system.
  • Support online equipment inventory management by ensuring listings are accurate and current.
  • Respond promptly to customer inquiries and online sales leads.
  • Participate in trade shows, customer events, and business development activities.
  • Achieve established sales, revenue, and market share goals.

Physical and Mental Requirements

  • Ability to travel frequently throughout the assigned territory.
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle and maintain a valid driver's license.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines and sales targets.

Work Environment

  • Primarily field-based with frequent customer visits and jobsite travel.
  • Regular exposure to construction sites, equipment yards, and outdoor environments.
  • Combination of office, remote, and field work.
