Job Summary:

This role involves performing calibrations, troubleshooting, and repairs on a wide range of electrical and mechanical Metrology & Test Equipment (M&TE) while maintaining inventory and service records. Additionally, the position requires conducting vibration testing, managing the company's ESD control plan, and supporting quality assurance audits. Qualified candidates must have at least two years of relevant experience, and knowledge of calibration and electrical theory.


Job Description: 

  • Perform calibration and verification measurements of Metrology & Test Equipment (M&TE). M&TE includes, among other things: signal generators, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, oscilloscopes, power sensors, power meters, multimeters, power supplies, torque devices, thermometers, hot plates, calipers, micrometers, and height gages.
  • Maintain a database of M&TE inventory and calibration history.
  • Conduct impact analysis for M&TE with out-of-tolerance calibration results.
  • Issue calibration recall reports.
  • Troubleshoot and perform repairs on M&TE. Replace circuit board components with soldering skills.
  • Coordinate sending M&TE out to service providers for repair and calibration.
  • Physically retrieve M&TE from within the company for calibration. Return M&TE from calibration.
  • Perform vibration testing using a vibration machine and accelerometers.
  • Operate a thermal vacuum chamber (TVAC) with liquid nitrogen service.
  • Execute and uphold the company’s ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) control plan. Install, repair, test, and certify ESD protection elements.
  • Assist in developing and improving test procedures to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Provide advice and guidance to other employees regarding the operation of M&TE.
  • Support audits and quality assurance initiatives related to calibration and environmental testing.
  • Maintain a clean and organized calibration laboratory.

Requirements

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Must meet U.S. export control compliance requirements and therefore qualify as a “US Person” as defined by the federal government.
  • 2+ years of experience operating and calibrating mechanical, electrical, and RF/microwave M&TE.
  • Knowledge of calibration principles.
  • Basic understanding of electrical theory.
  • Basic algebra math skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Possess the ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Possess effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel.


Desired Competencies:

  • Maintains an active ASQ CCT (Certified Calibration Technician) Certification
  • Basic soldering skills.
  • Experience with vibration testing.
  • Familiar with waveguide bands and waveguide assembly.
  • Familiar with RF/microwave interconnects up to 110 GHz.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Outlook.
  • Have an active security clearance.


Physical Requirements:

  • Stay in a stationary position for an extended period of time.
  • Move equipment weighing up to 60 pounds, unassisted, over a short distance (1 meter).
  • Arrange and organize laboratory equipment at various shelf heights.
  • Perform tasks at various heights, including working in low positions such as under a table (to install or repair wiring).
  • Use/work on small parts or tools for an extended period of time.
  • Work continuously using a microscope.
