Position Summary

EMC Precision has provided expertly machined, complex parts in low- to mid-volume quantities since 1925. We are currently seeking a Manufacturing Engineer for our Elyria, Ohio facility

The Manufacturing Engineer will develop and implement efficient, cost-effective manufacturing processes that meet product specifications and quality standards. This position will recommend and implement improvements to production processes, methods, and controls while coordinating manufacturing launches for new or revised products. The Manufacturing Engineer will also support tooling and equipment design and testing and assist with manufacturing process planning. 

Essential Responsibilities

  • Direct the design, development, implementation, and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes.
  • Evaluate product requirements and research, design, modify, and test manufacturing methods and equipment.
  • Ensure product and process quality by developing testing methods, evaluating finished products, assessing process capabilities, establishing standards, and confirming manufacturing processes.
  • Support the manufacturing launch of new and revised products.
  • Conduct time studies and estimate cycle times and manufacturing costs.
  • Create CNC programs using PartMaker software.
  • Support first-piece runoffs and make necessary edits to PartMaker programs.
  • Design fixtures, gauges, and tooling to support product quality and manufacturing efficiency.
  • Use quality tools and inspection equipment, including vision systems, roundness testers, and coordinate measuring machines.
  • Participate in cross-functional teams supporting design reviews and process improvements.
  • Assist with integrating automation and process optimization into new and existing manufacturing processes.
  • Communicate effectively with employees across engineering, quality, production, and other departments. 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of two years of related manufacturing engineering or machining experience.
  • Experience conducting time studies and estimating cycle times and costs.
  • General knowledge of manufacturing quality systems and processes.
  • Experience with Advanced Product Quality Planning, or APQP.
  • Working knowledge of CNC programming and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience reading and interpreting blueprints.
  • Good understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, or GD&T.
  • Proficiency with SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
  • Strong computer skills, including spreadsheets, word processing, and project management applications.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively as part of a team. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience using PartMaker software to create, test, and edit CNC programs.
  • Experience designing fixtures, gauges, and tooling.
  • Experience using vision systems, roundness testers, and coordinate measuring machines.
  • Experience implementing automation and process improvements.
  • Previous experience supporting employee development or providing technical leadership. Engineer
