About the Role

QIC's Liquid Markets Group (LMG) is looking for a Portfolio Analyst to join our high-performing Fixed Income team in Brisbane. Working alongside experienced Portfolio Managers, you'll gain exposure to market research, portfolio construction, client engagement, risk analysis and investment strategy while helping manage portfolios for some of Australia's largest institutional investors.

 

You'll be immersed in investment decisions, contribute to research that shapes portfolio positioning, and develop the technical and commercial skills needed to build a long-term career in funds management. 

 

About the Role

Reporting to the Senior Portfolio Manager, you'll work closely with portfolio managers and strategists to support the management of active cash and fixed income portfolios. You'll combine research, analytics, technology and market insights to help deliver strong outcomes for clients. 

Your role will include:

  • Monitoring macroeconomic developments, central bank policy decisions and market trends. 

  • Supporting portfolio construction and portfolio management activities. 

  • Producing risk reports, attribution analysis and investment insights. 

  • Assisting with client reporting, presentations and investment updates. 

  • Conducting macroeconomic and fixed income research. 

  • Working with platforms such as Bloomberg and Aladdin while leveraging data and automation opportunities. 

  • Helping improve processes through technology, innovation and continuous improvement initiatives.

About You

  • You might currently be working in:

You'll bring:

Essential Criteria

  • Degree qualifications in Economics, Finance, Business, Econometrics or a related discipline. 

  • 1-3 years' experience within investment management, financial markets, treasury or a related investment discipline. 

  • A genuine interest in macroeconomics, fixed income markets and portfolio management.  

  • Strong analytical and quantitative capability. 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 

  • Advanced Excel and broader technology skills.  
     

Desired Criteria

  • Experience using Bloomberg, Blackrock Aladdin or similar investment systems. 

  • Exposure to fixed income, portfolio analysis or institutional investment environments. 

  • An interest in data analytics, automation and emerging AI technologies.
